Great achievements for the Italian Merlot wines at the Mondial du Merlot 2015. A growing success for the event which saw the record participation of 440 wines from 25 countries. The largest number of participants confirms the overwhelming importance of the World competition sponsored by the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine).
The Mondial du Merlot and its Blends for whom?
The participation in the Mondial du Merlot is open to all producers or distributors/importers of wines processed with pure Merlot (see rules) or wines made with Merlot–based blends (51% minimum).
Why Mondial du Merlot and its Blends?
«When our Swiss importer suggested us to participate in the Merlot World Competition we never imagined what would happen next. A few months later "Semidis" was judged as the best wine in the competition. The recognition has encouraged the increase of applications for this wine in Switzerland and in other countries. "Unfortunately", Semidis has a total production of 2,800 bottles a year and then was sold out immediately after the awards».
The Italian Merlot has earned the second place for the number of gold medals, 7 this year.
