6 are the Italian wines to obtain the silver medal in the second edition of “Grenaches du Monde”, the international wine competition reserved for wines made from the Cannonau grape variety.


“Grenaches du Monde” 2014 was open to all types of wines (still, sparkling, fortified wines, Vins Doux Naturels) that are white, rosé or red, made from 60% minimum Grenache grapes. This very noble grape variety is grown in France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Israel, Algeria, Morocco, Argentina, South Africa, Australia and in the United States. Grenache is also known as Cannonau, Tai Rosso, Garnacha, Garnatxa.

“Grenaches du Monde” wants to bring together the different categories of wines produced from this grape variety and to bring out the best of them promoting them internationally.

Operators registered: 209 (independent winemakers, cooperatives, traders or distributors)

Nationalities present: France, Spain, Italy, Canada, the Republic of Macedonia, Australia and South Africa

Jury: 70 professional wine tasters (sommeliers, restaurateurs, oenologists, wine merchants and journalists who had come from Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, the United States and Japan).


The “Grenaches du Monde” 2014 awards

The nation that has received the highest number of awards was France, with 70 medals, followed by Spain, with 44 medals, and in third place Italy, with its 6 silver medals.

The Italian Companies are rewarded: Argiolas, Cantine Massidda, Gabbas, Tenute Soletta, Tenuta Agricola Olianas e Vigne Surrau.
