The Consortium for the Protection of DOC Sicilia Wines presents the DOC Sicilia Academy, a new training program for industry professionals dedicated to exploring innovation and winemaking technologies.

The Consortium for the Protection of DOC Sicilia Wines inaugurates the Doc Sicilia Academy , a new training program dedicated to industry professionals. The program offers specialized courses on current and increasingly strategic topics for the wine sector: from wine tourism to innovation in the cellar, to energy efficiency, with the aim of supporting the competitiveness of member companies and accompanying them through market transformations.

" Training represents a fundamental tool for supporting the competitiveness of our producers and accompanying them in a constantly evolving market", comments Camillo Pugliesi , director of the Consortium. "With Doc Sicilia Academy we want to provide knowledge and concrete tools to face the new challenges of the sector, from hospitality to technological innovation, up to energy sustainability ."

Among the proposed courses, particular attention will be given to wine tourism, an increasingly strategic activity for the Sicilian wine sector. The training program will address key issues related to hospitality management, business development, and opening up to new markets, highlighting the winery's central role in the consumer experience and in promoting the region.

The growing importance of this segment is also confirmed by data from the Ministry of Tourism's report " Another Record-Breaking Italian Summer," according to which between June 15th and September 15th, the occupancy rate of Sicilian accommodation facilities is expected to reach 63% , exceeding the national average of 58.9% . In this context, wine tourism confirms its position as one of the most dynamic sectors of the regional tourism offering, capable of attracting visitors seeking authentic experiences deeply rooted in the identity of the territories.

Wine tourism therefore represents a concrete opportunity to strengthen relationships with visitors, promote local identity, and generate new value for wineries. Through authentic experiences and direct contact with producers, companies can consolidate their positioning, increase the awareness of their wines, and contribute to the valorization of Sicily's cultural, landscape, and food and wine heritage. The training program stems from the understanding that the winery is much more than a place of production: it is the space where the company can welcome visitors, establish a direct dialogue, and transform knowledge of wine into a memorable experience. From this encounter, authentic relationships are formed, resulting in economic value, loyalty, and new development opportunities.

Doc Sicilia Academy also offers a comprehensive calendar of courses dedicated to innovation and winemaking technologies , with in-depth studies on the sensory recognition of wine defects, the production and tasting of Classic Method and Charmat Method sparkling wines, the production of contemporary rosé and red wines, and the molecular basis of wine aromas.

Alongside these modules, the Consortium will offer courses dedicated to energy efficiency and sustainability , focusing on consumption monitoring, production process optimization, photovoltaic systems, storage systems, energy communities, and the economic evaluation of investments. The goal is to provide companies with practical tools to improve business efficiency, reduce energy costs, and strengthen their competitiveness.

With the Doc Sicilia Academy, the Consortium for the Protection of DOC Sicilia Wines confirms its commitment to supporting the growth of producers and promoting DOC Sicilia wines through the dissemination of specialized skills and the adoption of innovative practices, contributing to the sustainable development and enhancement of Sicily's winemaking heritage.
