From May 5th to 8th over 30 Italian wineries will be involved in the Germany Tour. Italian wines will be heading in strategic cities such as Hamburg, Berlin and Munich to meet buyers, journalists, importers, distributors, retailers, restaurateurs and opinion leaders in the national market.

The Germany Tour is an appointment with the professionals in the wine industry that has the intent to disclose and make known the great quality of Italian wines, with the aim of giving visibility to Italian wineries in one of the most important markets in Europe.

Why Germany?

Germany was chosen for the start of the European tour of Simply Italian Great Wine, tool of IEM – International Exhibition Management (www.iem.it), dedicated to the promotion of Italian wine abroad.

«The importance of the German market for the export of Italian wines is known – Marina Nedic, managing director of IEM, says – as well as renowed is the great regard enjoyed by Italian wine in Germany, also due to cultural and traditional features. Many Italian wineries have in fact established stable business relationships with Germany and a good temporal continuity in relation to the wide range of wines on the market. The demand in Germany is gradually becoming more refined and this results in an even greater need for means to promote it properly and make it known».

«This is a situation – Nedic concludes – that makes our promotional programs winners: seminars, guided tastings and walkaround tastings. Such as those proposed to the German sommeliers, prominent figures who have taken in the last two decades the role of privileged partners in the context of food and wine in the formation of wine lists, often working as consultants and educators, exerting a strong influence on consumers».

Why Hamburg, Berlin and Monaco?

Hamburg is one of Germany’s largest cities with the highest per capita income of the Federal Republic, amounting to almost double the European average.

Berlin is a young and dynamic city that boasts the highest number of quality restaurants and chefs. Munich is the capital of Bavaria known as the gateway to the Alps, where the consumption of Italian wine dominates the market with a share of 30.6%.

Market Data of Italian wine in Germany
