At Vinitaly the Rosé Wine National Competition, that promotes and celebrates the Italian rosé wines, was presented

Now in its third edition, the Rosé Wines of Italy Competition 2014 is the largest Italian specialist recognition in the industry and a reference point for the supply chain of rosé wine.

«We are honored and proud – the Regional Assessor for Agri–food Resources Fabrizio Nardoni said – to have created a contest that can enhance a quality wine, the made in Italy rosé wine, which in recent years has had constant growth trends and is increasingly appreciated by young and older people. Our commitment, this year, will focus on ensuring the promotion of rosé wine that will conquer the palates of leading experts, winemakers, sommeliers asked to judge the participant labels. We have the ambition to be protagonists in every sense, and in the 2014 edition, the competition is a showcase of prestige. In June, in effect, during the "Rosé Week", the 18 wines medalists will be to the fore in 115 Italian wine bars associated in the important and historic Vinarius partnership».

From "La Prova del Cuoco", the testimonials of the contest

The two faces chosen to enhance rosé wines and the excellence of Italian culinary tradition come from "La Prova del Cuoco":

– Palma D’Onofrio, cooking teacher, editor of the blog "SOS Cuoca"

– Paolo Lauciani, an expert on food and wine of the Italian Sommelier Foundation, and today staff of the show "La Prova del Cuoco".

The stages of the Rosé Wines of Italy Competition 2014

The selection of wines will take place on May 10th and 11th; during the two days the best rosé wines of Italy will be evaluated by eight committees composed of leading experts, winemakers, wine journalists and experts.

The awards ceremony will be in the Aragonese Castle of Otranto on May 31st.

In June, the award–winning rosé wines will be tasted during the "Rosé Week" in over one hundred wineries associated with Vinarius.

The enthusiastic comments for the contest

«We, from Puglia – the senator Dario Stefano said – are famous for our stubbornness and our enthusiasm with which we embrace the more exciting challenges, such as that of investing in rosé wines, as a productive and economic segment of cultural but also of identity value. A challenge that has started to give us great satisfaction, as shown by the data of the positioning of this type of wine on the market. I am sure the Puglia system will not stop here, the road is mapped out: continuing on the path of excellent quality and typicality, together with our producers, we will write new chapters in the future history of winemaking excellence».

«Finally, Puglia begins to be characterized as a land of great wine producers, and not as the land of grapes squeezer – Nichi Vendola, president of the Puglia region, stated in his conclusions. The victory at the European Union level, which was condemning the rosé wine to become a wine for pouring, was decisive; rosé wine has a level of sophisticated production intelligence and is one of the wines that best explains the quality. Now we have to ally ourselves with the producers of rosé wine in France and go to the conquest of new world markets like China, which has 150 million extremely rich people who rarely had the opportunity to try wine products of quality. To go to conquer these markets wineries must join together and must engage the network of universities and research because only with the innovation of production and sales processes the wine from the Puglia system can continue to develop in quality and richness’.
