The courses are open to everyone , from enthusiasts to industry professionals, and are designed for those who want to approach the world of wine in a serious and engaging way, learning to taste, learn about the main grape varieties, understand production regions, winemaking techniques, and the art of food and wine pairing. Each lesson alternates theoretical sessions with guided tastings, allowing participants to gradually develop a method of sensory analysis and a greater awareness of the Italian and international winemaking heritage.
Through constantly updated teaching and a widespread network With highly qualified delegations and speakers , the Association trains hundreds of enthusiasts and new sommeliers every year. Being a member of AIS Veneto also means access to an annual calendar of over one hundred exclusive events, including guided tastings, masterclasses, winery tours, and meetings with producers.
"September traditionally represents the month of new beginnings," explains Gianpaolo Breda, President of the Italian Sommelier Association of Veneto. "For AIS Veneto, it means opening its doors to hundreds of new enthusiasts who wish to embark on a journey of quality. Today, knowing wine means knowing the land, agriculture, sustainability, and the work of its people. At a time when there is growing attention to responsible consumption and quality production, we believe that training represents the best possible investment. But joining AIS also means being part of a vibrant community, made up of people who share the same passion. The courses are just the beginning of a journey that continues throughout the year through tastings, events, winery tours, meetings, and in-depth opportunities that make each member a key player in the life of the association."
The courses are divided into three levels: the first introduces the Sommelier profession, providing the foundations of viticulture, oenology, tasting techniques, and service; the second explores the relationship between wine and terroir, analyzing the main Italian and international wine regions; and the third focuses on food and wine pairing. At the end of the course, students can take the exam to obtain the AIS Sommelier certification.
Registration for courses starting in September at various locations in the Veneto region is open on the Association's official website. For those who register by August 30, 2026 , AIS Veneto will offer two exclusive gifts : AISpeak , a 1.5-hour online training module dedicated to technical wine English, useful for enriching professional vocabulary and communicating effectively in international contexts; and Carnet di Viaggio , an original volume that explores the Veneto wine regions through stories, places, people, and landscapes, in an engaging and evocative narrative.
