On the 20th of September is the deadline for "Selection of Tuscan Wines 2012" biennial event dedicated to DOP and IGP Tuscany wines supported by the Region of Tuscany and Tuscany Promotion, in collaboration with the Italian Wine and Italians Winemakers Association.
There are more than 250 farms participating so far, to stimulate such a large participation in the "X Selection of Tuscan Wines 2012" thenews of this year:
-Raising the score from 82 to 85/10 to find the highest quality,
-17 Categories for more consistency
-Awards ceremony for all the wines that were selected and those with a "Diploma of Honor"
In addition to this: depth, focus on the markets, tastings and new opportunities for visibility.
The appointment with "Selection of Tuscan Wines 2012" was set from the 12th to the 14th of October at the headquarters of Italian Enoteca in Siena.

Awards Ceremony "Selection of Tuscan Wines 2012"
The awards ceremony will be held in Siena with an international event dedicated to celebrate the wines and those which got the "Certificate of Honour".
The event will include experts from the target markets of the Region Tuscany (Brazil, China, and USA). The journalists, industry professionals and wine lovers will be asked to identify the most suitable products to consumers in the countries of origin. The award ceremony will be open to the public with tastings and wine tasting.
Categorization of "Selection of Tuscan Wines 2012"
The categories, which in this tenth edition will be 17 and include the type Spumante.
It is also planned to set up a category to enhance and promote the wines produced with typically Tuscan grapes such as Pugnitello, Bashful, Ciliegiolo, Foglia Tonda.
Tasting fees and selections
Fees taste that will be composed of 7 members. In each committee will be at least 2 foreign professionals (winemakers, sommeliers and journalists), the commissioners are of national and international importance for judging the best varieties and territorial peculiarities of Tuscany.
Assoenologi has the task of monitoring the technical aspect of the selection and taste the wines of course participants will be tasted and evaluated according to the method used by the Union International des Oenologues.
