In Polpenazze del Garda, in the province of Brescia, the eighth edition of the national wine competition DOC Valtènesi Garda Classico took place. 28 are the "Excellent of Garda" wines.
The contest was held as part of the Wine Fair. "A Fair strictly connected with the territory and its protection - so the provincial councilor Gianfrancesco Tomasoni explained - while the Valtenesi company is rapidly changing, and is going to face the great challenge of Expo 2015".
Inside the fair, the wine competition has grown year by year, aiming to promote, among other things, the new Doc, Garda Classico DOC, and Valtenesi, that is a new denomination and a new benchmark, not only as Chiaretto but also as Red, wines that for the first time in 2013 has taken part in the now famous National Wine Competition recognized by the Ministry.
The national wine competition DOC Valtènesi Garda Classico was established by the Ministry for Agricultural Policies: the wines that achieved a score of 85/100, are 28 out of 60 total samples. Within this group 7 first prizes, 5 second prizes, 1 third prize and 2 fourth prizes were awarded.
"Two Taste Committees tasted 60 samples - Fabio Finazzi, delegate of ONAV and of Ente Vini Bresciani explained - and Chiaretto and Rosso Valtenesi together have already reached 37% of the total, unequivocal sign of a trend that is already a true orientation". In total are 32 the wines that have reached the quota for excellence. According to the experts, the average is 85 out of 100. In short, mathematically speaking, as much as 53% of the participanting labels. 18 will be the wineries present at the Fair, for a four-day full of related events and appointments not to be missed, such as the Court of Taste with its combinations of wine and cheese, the vantage BorgoBio obviously dedicated to organic products and their derivatives, the famous spit of Polpenazze which is now a must in this event".
