International Wine Challenge 2013: The Italian wines awarded with gold

The International Wine Challenge 2013 took place, a prestigious World contest that awarded no less than 38 medals to Italy: 38 gold medals, 170 silver, 329 bronze and 445 mentions.

The International Wine Challenge 2013 is now in its thirtieth year and has allocated a total of 514 gold medals. This means record of quality of the wine scene. Samples of wines from all over the world have participated: Peru, Bosnia Herzegovina, Lebanon and Thailand.
"The International Wine Challenge - Metcalfe, co-chair IWC, states - is unique and is widely regarded as the most authoritative competition in the world. I know of no other wine competition in which each medal winner is identified on a "blind" tasting, in a minimum of three separate occasions, to ensure consistency and fairness. Our very coveted medals are then placed on the bottles, which means that consumers can immediately trust in the quality of the product as tasted by the best judges of wine in the world. "

Each wine is rewarded with a medal was tasted in three stages separated by 10 or more of the best tasters world. France is on top of the podium for the number of medals received and the variety of proposals, getting the medal with 18 different grape varieties: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the classics to the Mourvèdre, Petit Manseng and Viognier.

France once again champion of the world at the International Wine Challenge (IWC), with a total of 113 gold medals, 32 more than in the closer "rival", Australia. Good performance for Italy, which brings home 38 gold medals, 170 silver, 329 bronze and 445 mentions, for a total of 537 medals and 982 awards.
"Year after year - said Charles Metcalfe, co-chairman of IWC - French wines have won over the judges of the IWC with quality, elegance and sophistication, but this year the level was extraordinary. The French have an international reputation for creating world-class wines, with some wine producers from around the globe who seek to replicate the style. The French winemakers who created the wines winning medals' are really masters of the craft. "
