Oltrepò Pavese changes face: new rules for greater representation of producers and an exclusive denomination for the Classic Method.

Torrevilla , a historic winery in Oltrepò Pavese, expresses its support for the recent changes approved by the Assembly of Members of the Consorzio Vini Oltrepò Pavese. The reforms concern both the new statute and the specifications of the Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG), which was voted on three years ago but never applied, marking a significant step towards the valorization of the territory and its producers.

Massimo Barbieri , president of Torrevilla, who has strongly supported the Consortium in this direction, declared: " We are proud to belong to a Consortium that demonstrates a far-sighted and shared strategy for the future of Oltrepò Pavese. The approved changes mark an essential milestone to enhance our winemaking excellence and strengthen the unity between all production entities, from the largest to the smallest. The new denomination 'Classese' perfectly represents the soul and tradition of our Metodo Classico, and we are enthusiastic about supporting its valorization ".

The new statute, approved with over 98% of votes in favor, introduces a fairer voting system, ensuring adequate representation also for small producers and promoting the entire production chain. This change aims to rebalance the disparities between the different business realities, ensuring more democratic participation within the Consortium.

At the same time, with over 93% of the votes, the new DOCG regulations were adopted, introducing the term “Classese” to identify the Classic Method produced with Pinot Noir grapes. This historic denomination, combined with more rigorous production rules, underlines the territory's commitment to guaranteeing an excellent and recognizable quality of its sparkling wines.

Torrevilla will continue to commit to the production of high quality wines, respecting the traditions and the new directives of the specification, with the aim of enhancing the peculiarities of Oltrepò Pavese and satisfying the expectations of the most demanding consumers.
