For some years I have been reflecting on the fact that the Conegliano area is underestimated compared to Valdobbiadene when it comes to Prosecco.

We also consider that the Enological School of Conegliano is the scholastic reality of the sector with the richest history in Italy, with its origins linked to the development of agriculture and viticulture in the Veneto and to the historical-political events since the birth of unified Italy.

For a few decades now, the “GB Cerletti” Higher Institute has been renewing a series of events, conferences and various activities every 5 years to celebrate the anniversary of the foundation of the Conegliano Wine School. However, it does not only live off the glories of the past, but plans, researches and innovates: now in its "Campus" there is space for the Professional Institute for Agriculture, the Agricultural Technical Institute (the current name of the school is "State Institute of GB Cerletti Upper Secondary Education", the ITS (Higher Technical Institute for new technologies for the made in Italy agro-food and wine sector), the University of Padua (for the achievement of the degree in Viticultural and Oenological Sciences and Technologies ), the Regional Center for Viticulture, Oenology and Grappa of Veneto Agricoltura, the DOC Consortia of the Province, the Assoenologi Central-Eastern Veneto to all together promote profitable synergies and collaborations of study, technical-scientific research and marketing of wine and agricultural products.

Despite all this wealth of knowledge and experience, it seems clear that Conegliano has not yet fully exploited its potential.

Thus was born the idea of creating the "City of Prosecco" in Conegliano, in a place well served by logistical services and infrastructures such as trains, airports and motorways. The two areas considered are just 1.5 km from the highway, thus offering an ideal environment for the project.
