Vermentino Nero

It is found only in Lunigiana, between La Spezia and Tuscany, and in fact it has nothing to do with the Vermentino White. Not suitable for aging, but with interesting and original features. It is similar, only in the ampelography, to the white grape, but it has a distant genetic basis. Cultivated only for local purposes, it produces in large quantities and could be harvested in the same period of Sangiovese, but often it is harvested later because it is mostly used for raisin wines on the island of Elba and in Val di Cornia (in the province of Grosseto).
