Malvasia Aromatica di Candia

Despite its name, this variety is not part of the Malvasia family, but is close to that of Moscato, as the multiplicity of its characteristic fragrances can testify. Its origins are very old and uncertain, but it seems that they can come from the Peloponnese, where this grape was already cultivated in the late Middle Ages and its spread in the region in the provinces of Parma, Piacenza and Reggio Emilia. The bunches are big above average, elongated, pyramid-shaped, often provided by a well developed wing, its grapes are medium-size, spheroidal, thick-skinned, waxy, and golden yellow.
