Bellone

This vine, also called Cacchione, Pampanaro, Bellobuono, Albanese, Zinnavacca, Arciprete and Pacioccone, is characteristic of Lazio and was already known in Roman times, so that even Pliny the Elder in his Naturalis Historia talks about it as "fantastic grape". It is widespread especially in the province of Rome (especially in the Castelli Romani area and in the surrounding area of ​​Anzio and Nettuno), but is also cultivated in other regions of Central Italy. It is rarely vinified in single-variety, it is present more often in blends with other varieties form different regional DOC. The plant has large, pentagonal and five-lobed leaves, medium-large and conical-cylindrical bunches, with medium-sized, round and thick-skinned grapes.
