Alionza

It is a vine of uncertain origins, already mentioned in the work by Peter de' Crescenzi and by several French ampelographers who hypothesized its presence in the south of France in the past. Known in Bologna as "Uva Schiava", an origin from the Slavic countries is deducible. Any origin of this variety may have, however, remains that, when the plants arrived in the provinces of Modena and Bologna, they found an ideal location and here were grown in the famous "alberate". It is a grape variety with large, elongated bunches, with one or rarely two wings, scattered on average and with grapes that are big, with waxy skin, thick and substantial, yellow.
