Consorzio Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani

Already at the beginning of the last century the winemakers of Barolo and Barbaresco felt the need to come together to protect their production: in 1908 they asked for the creation of a "certificate of origin" issued by an association operating under the control of provincial administration and the Piedmontese wine union. Only in 1924, however, the Italian Parliament promulgated the law on typical wines and established that their characteristics had to be constant and defined by the consortium statutes. Thus began the preparatory work for the establishment of the Consortium for the Defense of Typical Wines of Pregio Barolo and Barbaresco, officially founded in 1934 with the task of defining the production context (the area of origin, the grapes and the characteristics of the wine), against fraud, adulteration and unfair competition, to promote the knowledge of wines, as well as to defend their name and quality in the most appropriate fora. After the break dictated by the war events, the Consortium was reconstituted in 1947. In 1963 the law 930 was issued, which sanctioned the birth of the designations of origin and defined the exact role of the Consortia. Immediately, the Albese Consortium worked for the recognition of the DOC for Barolo and Barbaresco, which took place in 1966, and later for that of the DOCG, granted in 1980. In 1984 the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry officially entrusted the Consortium with the task supervision of the production of the two excellent reds. The protection exercised on Langa wines was perfected between 2007 and 2009, when the Ministry assigned the Consortium the task of carrying out the Control Plan on all the DOCGs and DOCs under its competence. In this way, not only Barolo and Barbaresco, but also Dogliani, Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto (in its various types), Langhe, Nebbiolo d'Alba and Verduno Pelaverga are perfectly guaranteed in terms of traceability.

Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico

Since its foundation, the Consortium has been involved in the protection, supervision and enhancement of the Chianti Classico appellation. From the Consortium for the defense of the typical Chianti wine and its brand of origin in 1924 to the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico of today, the consortium has changed the names and graphic styles of its brand where, however, the historic symbol has always stood out del Gallo Nero. Today the Consortium of Chianti Classico Gallo Nero represents about 96% of the DOCG producers and is confirmed as one of the main referents of national and community institutions for the wine sector. Its internal organization includes structures dedicated to carrying out its institutional tasks: from the protection and services front, which sees the legal department engaged, to that of enhancement, entrusted to the marketing and communication department. The entire supply chain, from the production of the grapes to the bottling of the product, is subject to a traceability system, the data of which are entered in a computerized database of public use. A system that allows consumers from all over the world to verify the origin of the bottle they have purchased. The Consortium also implements a strict control on the packaged product already present in the sales channels. Another important activity is research and experimentation in the agronomic and oenological field, carried out by the Consortium in collaboration with prestigious training and research institutes at local and national level.

Born in 1970, he obtained the diploma of Agricultural Expert with specialization in viticulture and oenology at the Celso Ulpiani Institute of Ascoli Piceno in the school year 1989/90.

He started his career as lab head gaining experience in different realities like CIV and CIV of Modena, the P.E.MPA Winery of Imola and the Fazi Battaglia Winery of Castelplanio, in 1995 he was selected by the Villa Pigna Winery of Offida as quality control manager.

At the same time he attended scientific training courses and two years later he was asked to hold the role of technical director at the Villa Pigna winery, dealing first with the winery and bottling and then also with the supervision of the farm.

In 2004 he founded Opus Vini, a wine, oenology and legislation consulting firm.

He is technical adviser of various wine realities in Marche and in Abruzzo.

It is registered in the roll of wine experts of the province of Ascoli Piceno and holds the role of secretary at Assoenologi Marche.

He is member of the tasting boards of the DOC and DOCG wines at the local Chambers of Commerce of Ascoli Piceno, Teramo and Macerata.



Oenology



The origin of a wine respected in his own style, personality and balance.

Opus Wine, marrying this new winemaking philosophy, seeks to enhance the potential of the company relying on the production area, the grape varieties grown and the work of man in order to enhance the personality of the future wine, working on the following points:

1) to interpret the taste and style of the wine to be produced so that it can convey the idea of the territory satisfying from an organoleptic point of view the taste of the consumer;

2) to orient certain practices of growing and harvesting in order to catalyze in grapes the territoriality and to transfer it in wine in the best physiological moment;

3) to adjust winemaking, aging and fining techniques aimed to respect the quality of grapes and pass them to wine.

Vitali Michele

Professional experience:



Since 1998 to date an employee of Cantina di Canneto SCA fraz. Camponoce 27 27044 Canneto Pavese (PV).
The winery vinifies 2,000 tons of grapes (pinot riesling barbera bonarda), produces 1.8 million bottles of which 80% frizzante wine, 10% sparkling wine and the remaining 10% still wine. It works for 95% on the domestic market and the major customers are group Carefour, Coop Italia and Conad.

A 5% of production is placed on the foreign market (United States).

Currently I am carrying out the job of Oenologist with the following tasks: organizational management of the registers of the winery, quality control, ISO 9000, responsible for vinification, aging, secondary fermentation, bottling, for the proper functioning of equipment and systems including maintenance.

I deal with the management of purchasing of ancillary materials and production equipment, of raw materials for the production (wines, musts, concentrated musts, etc.), of the sale of bulk wine surplus (an average of 2,500 hl per year) which allowed me to obtain many relationships with other wineries, both cooperatives and private ones, of various sizes.

Moreover, I follow the negotiations with new clients for both the domestic market and for export aimed at the realization (product specification, packaging and price) of dedicated products, acquiring a fair knowledge with brokers, distributors, buyers and traders in the packaged wine industry.


Since 2012 I have been a member of the board of directors of the Oltrepò Pavese DOC Wines consortium.

From 1996 to 1998 I worked at the The Versa winery with the role of winery technician, responsible for wine making and processing of bulk wine.



Experiences in agriculture

For several decades I have worked in my spare time 4 hectares of family land currently under vine (with the help of my parents) located in the municipality of Pietra de Giorgi (PV), acquiring high skills in the working and management of the vineyard in all its stages, from the constitution of the "barbatelle" cuttings (I planted an hectare of "barbatelle" cuttings produced by me from the graft to the growth in the nursery), to planting, breeding of the vineyard, to various forms of pruning (guyot, casarsa, Silvoz spurie cordon), to canopy management (mechanical and manual), soil management, phytosanitary treatment and harvest, with the aim to minimize costs and maximize yields per hectare to obtain the best profit taking.
I have a good ability to carry out maintenance of agricultural equipment.



Education

University degree in viticulture and oenology obtained in 1996 at the State University of Milan with a score of 70/70 cum laude, member of the Enologi association since 1996.

In 1990 graduated at the State Technical Agricultural Institute of Noverasco Opera (MI) with a score of 52/60, registered in the roll of agricultural experts of the province of Milan Lodi since 1991.

In 1997 I obtained the license for the conduct of steam generators of 3rd degree.

Good knowledge of the English language, written and spoken.

In 2005 I obtained the coach certification level 2 at the Italian Rowing Federation, a sport practiced at a competitive level for 20 years (I am not currently practicing any activity).

Knowledge of the Russian language.

Interpersonal and organizational skills.

Cascina Castlet Costigliole d'Asti

Visitors who reach it find Mariuccia and Ada to receive them, can taste the wines, Barbera above all, in all versions, from Goj, joyful and sparkling, to the elegant Passum, but also Moscato, either in its natural fermentation version and in the charming raisin version: Avi.

But there is an element that distinguishes Cascina Castlet, and the visitor notices it right away by looking at the labels, modern, fine even if open–minded, innovative and classic at the same time.

This is Cascina Castlet, the result of the encounter between rural traditions and urban culture of the owner’s family who has lived, studied and worked in the center of Turin in the family wine shop frequented by the upper class and the intellectual elite of the city. When you know it, you better understand the outstanding research that does not stop at the design and the label, but extends in wines.

There is even a wine, Uceline, that is the result of university scientific research and the recovery of a twenty–years–old vine, then endangered, which has allowed this precious wine to exist for now in exclusive company. It is understandable, then, the reason of the kind gestures, you fall in love with the ancient mother who occasionally sits in front of the threshold to take the sunset sun and greets every guest with a smile.

You can admire the modern winery, a jewel of rationality, light, and cleanliness. And we understand that the little table in the little room, where you sit in a few to enjoy a glass of wine, must remain so. It is a matter of seriousness and honesty, reflecting that wines are honest, in price and in its declared identity. A visit that remains in the memory for its simplicity and taking away a bottle means to renew that serene moment.

Casale Mattia Az. Agricola

Casale Mattia is named after the resort of the same name Colle Mattia, a territory, among other things, full of archaeological finds. The company stands on the foundations of an ancient Roman villa, of which today you can see only a tank of water used until a few years ago by the inhabitants of the area.

The company’s project, begun in 1995, aimed at the re–evaluation of the territory through a constant search for the quality of its wines, recovering the traditional and authentic characteristics of Frascati that made it famous in the world.

The wines of Casale Mattia, rich in history and tradition, are the result of a constant commitment that starts in the vineyards, through the recovery of native grape varieties, the use of substances with low environmental impact and an accurate selection of grapes during the harvest fractionated by hand.

The wines thus obtained are then bottled with a sterile plant in cold according to the needs of the market and sold in major world markets. More than 70% of production, in effect, is sold abroad.

Quality, innovation, tradition and service to customers are therefore the main elements of the corporate policy.
