ITALIAN CELLARS

Avignonesi: Sangiovese and Nobile di Montepulciano take center stage. The historic Montepulciano winery wins Gambero Rosso's 2026 "Tre Bicchieri" award for its 2021 Poggetto di Sopra Nobile di Montepulciano and receives the "Top Wine - Vino Slow" award for its 2022 Nobile. Slow Wine also awards the winery the "Chiocciola" (Snail) label, a symbol of sustainability and territorial authenticity.

The Giannitessari company thus celebrates emerging culinary talent and its connection to excellent viticulture.

Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Consortium: Biagini confirmed as president. The Assembly renews the Board of Directors, with a balance between long-standing wineries and young people under 40. This is a strong sign of continuity and renewal for a denomination that is a symbol of Tuscany.

The Vermouth di Torino Consortium officially recognized by MASAF. A historic step towards the protection and promotion of Vermouth di Torino. This ministerial recognition confirms the Consortium's full legitimacy and strengthens its commitment to promoting Piedmontese aromatized wine worldwide.

Emerging wineries and historic comebacks: a snapshot of Italian wine. The new Gambero Rosso Guide depicts a vibrant Italian winemaking scene, free from stylistic dogma. The 2019-2021 vintages confirm balance and identity, especially in Tuscany and Piedmont.

Prosecco DOC: legal victory and "low-alcohol" innovation. The EU General Court rules in favor of the Prosecco Consortium against "PriSecco," declaring the German trademark invalid for undue evocation. Meanwhile, the Consortium is working on a low-alcohol version, aiming to attract new global consumers without losing its identity.

Mountain Agriculture: The New Law Recognizes the Strategic Role The legislation identifies agriculture, livestock farming, and forestry as essential sources of income, employment, and landscape protection in Alpine and Apennine areas.

Agricultural services: tax clarifications on the new Article 56-bis of the Consolidated Income Tax Act (TUIR). Effective January 1, 2024, the 25% flat-rate tax regime will also be extended to agricultural companies that determine their income according to land registry rules. This measure aims to simplify management and increase the competitiveness of the primary sector.
