A toast with the wines of the Friulian estate for the stages Pergine Valsugana-Caorle on Wednesday and Oderzo-Val di Zoldo on Thursday.
Terre di Ger dresses in pink and celebrates the Giro d'Italia 2023 by opening the doors of the cellar in Frattina di Pravisdomini (Pordenone) on Wednesday (24/05), on the occasion of the arrival of the caravan in Caorle, and on Thursday (25/05 ), the day of departure of the cyclists from Oderzo. «Over these two days we are exhibiting Jai Hindley's Maglia Rosa won last year - explains Robert Spinazzè, owner of Terre di Ger - together with all the bottles dedicated to the Giro d'Italia and we are offering the wines for tasting with the dedicated label to the Bora Cooking Systems company and the Bora-Hansgrohe cycling team. The Giro is located right between Terre di Ger and Spinazzè and therefore it seems nice to us to share our passion with all those who follow the Corsa Rosa».
Now in its 106th edition, the Giro d'Italia was won last year by Jai Hindley, the first Australian to win the Corsa Rosa. The only Italian sponsor of his team, Bora-Hansgroe, is the Spinazzè company of Robert and Gianni Spinazzè, producers of poles for vineyards and orchards and wine with the Terre di Ger cellar.
Robert Spinazzè is a former agonist, he raced with the Rinascita Polisportiva Ormelle and inherited the passion for cycling from his father Gianni who founded the Spinazzè company in San Michele di Piave in the 1960s (
Gianni's bond with cycling has very distant origins. «My dad has always been a fan of two-wheeled racing - says Robert -. In the 80s he created a high-level amateur team with the collaboration of TiEsse, a company in the wood sector, and the technical coordination of the famous Mino Bariviera known as the Jaguar, perhaps the greatest discoverer of cycling talents in Italy at the time ». In those years TiEsse-Spinazzè achieved success filling the headlines of the newspapers every week. «Cycling - explains Robert - is very popular in the north-east, perhaps because life in the countryside is very similar to the life of a runner. The runner rides alone on the streets, it's hot, it's cold, it's raining, it's windy, training goes on anyway. The farmer in the countryside follows the same rhythms, it doesn't matter if it's winter or summer, the work must be done, therefore the solitude of the farmer is the solitude of the runner".
«In 2016 - Robert explains again - we had just finished the sponsorship relationship with the Tinkoff team and there was the will to remain in the high-level professional environment. I was presented with the opportunity of this German team who had an ambitious long term project and were signing Peter Sagan who was the best rider in the world at the time. I met Willi Bruckbauer, owner of Bora Cooking System, a leading company in the design and construction of hobs and cookers, and he said to me: "If you help me grow, you too will grow as a company". And since then, in addition to the sponsorship relationship, a strong friendship has been built. We met last week in Raubling, where his company is based, for an impromptu and informal lunch where we talked about company strategies and cycling, he is truly a good and humble person».
Since then, a bond of close and intimate collaboration has been established with Bora-Hansgroe. «Since 2016 - he concludes - we have followed the team in its growth and development. There are still the technicians and mechanics of those days. We are all one big family. And the victory in last year's Giro with Jai Hindley was exciting, crowning years of sacrifices and expectations. In Verona we have renewed our trust in the Team for the next few years. We are already planning the celebrations in 2027, the year of the tenth anniversary as a pro-tour ».
