PROSECCO PRODUCER SUGGESTS ON THE LABEL 'CONSUMPTION OF NO MORE THAN 2 GLASSES A DAY'

It is Sandro Bottega himself, owner of the company of the same name in Bibano (Treviso), one of the main producers of Italian wine and spirits, who explains this choice: «Doctors and politicians, producers and consumers have often said the right things: alcohol bad, but if consumed in moderate quantities, it is an evil that our body can tolerate well; others said nonsense with no scientific basis, including brain size. In Bottega we have always been sensitive to the concept "drinking well is good for you" and even 30 years ago we distributed a booklet in schools to teach young people what "drinking well" meant, or we distributed our catalogs in Braille, also to present that excess alcohol leads to blindness, or we have given support to the bodies that dealt with the reintegration of alcoholics: the social commitment of our company has never stopped, education to drink is the very first act to do before you even start drinking. Here we have decided to summarize all these things, indicating on the label the maximum suggested consumption of an alcohol, therefore 2 glasses of wine a day. It is not an imposition - underlines Sandro Bottega - nor an invitation to consume and, above all, not even a terrorist warning as has been discussed in Europe, but it is a way of educating: we must all do our part by seeking mutual understanding which we hope will also arrive from politics, which very often, before speaking, must study the subject», concludes Sandro Bottega.
