New wine, chestnuts, freshly pressed oil, and the colors of the foliage among the vineyards. November brings the scents and flavors of autumn to the cellars, and with Cantine Aperte a San Martino (Open Cellars on San Martino), the Umbria Wine Tourism Movement once again invites enthusiasts and wine lovers to experience the region through a rich calendar of events, scheduled from November 1st to 15th .
" Open Cellars on San Martino ," emphasizes Giovanni Dubini, president of the Umbria Wine Tourism Movement, " is the most autumnal face of Umbrian wine tourism: the one that comes after the harvest, when the work moves from the vineyard to the cellar and the wines of the latest harvest slowly begin to take shape. This time of year becomes an opportunity to meet producers, taste, sit down at the table, and rediscover the flavors that have always accompanied San Martino and the Umbrian countryside ."
The program spans several areas of the region, from Montefalco to Trasimeno, from Bevagna to Bettona, from Cannara and Perugia to the Umbertide and Orvieto areas, alternating guided tours and tastings with lunches and dinners, aperitifs, chestnut festivals, music, and events dedicated to the new olive oil and agricultural culture.
Arnaldo Caprai , in Montefalco, opens the calendar with guided tours and tastings led by wine experts from November 1st to 15th. Also in the Montefalco area, Terre della Custodia welcomes guests with tours and tastings of four wines from November 2nd to 7th, while on November 8th it offers a four-course autumn wine pairing paired with four of the winery's reserves.
From November 1st to 15th, Cantina Palazzone , in Orvieto, will also be opening its doors to guests with guided tours of the estate, cellar, and vineyards, accompanied by tastings of the company's wines. Those who wish can enhance the experience with a pairing lunch. All the offers organized for the event will be available for viewing and booking directly on the winery's website.
From November 1st to 15th, by reservation, Saio Assisi invites you to experience the enchanting foliage among the vineyards that extend below the Basilica of Saint Francis. At this time of year, the Assisi Vineyard is adorned with the colors of autumn, offering a particularly evocative panorama. The program includes picnics among the scenic rows, light lunches, lunches, and aperitifs accompanied by guided wine tastings. All experiences also include a tasting of the new olive oil and a free walk through the vineyards, immersing yourself in the scents and colors of the Umbrian countryside at the most spectacular time of the season.
The first weekend is particularly busy. On November 7th, Cantina Vetunna , in Bettona, will celebrate the season with a snack in the cellar featuring chestnuts and the new Etruro IGP Umbria 2026 red wine , along with tastings of wines and typical local products.
On November 7th and 8th, La Fonte in Bevagna will open its doors from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM for two days dedicated to wine, new olive oil, and chestnuts, with the option of lunch, a snack, or an aperitif. From the afternoon, there will be chestnut festivals, mulled wine, and bonfires burning until the evening; on November 7th, the atmosphere will also be enhanced by a DJ set. During the same days, Cantina Di Filippo in Cannara will offer aperitifs in the cellar from 7:00 PM, featuring seasonal products paired with the company's wines and new olive oil.
At Madrevite , in Vaiano di Castiglione del Lago, the weekends of November 7-8 and 14-15 are marked by bruschetta, new oil, chestnuts and music, while Fattoria di Monticello , in San Venanzo, on the same dates offers guided afternoon tours of the cellar with three wines for tasting and autumn samples.
On November 8th, Blasi Cantina , in Umbertide, welcomes guests for a tasting lunch followed by a concert by the Elena Cammarone Orchestra. On the same day, Montegiove Castle , in Montegabbione, hosts the Agriculture Festival "Coltiviamo la Cultura," an event that brings together historic homes, landscape, and the agricultural world. After a panel dedicated to the relationship between land and agriculture, the spotlight will be on local producers, wines, and flavors, on a day that symbolically brings together the past and future of farm work, with a vintage tractor and a drone demonstration.
At Vineria del Carmine , in La Bruna, events will be held between November 6th and 15th: food and wine pairing evenings, pizza nights, autumn lunches, tours, and tastings. A small vertical tasting of three vintages of "Il Campanile" is also scheduled for November 14th, while November 15th will feature the San Martino Luncheon , followed by an afternoon opening of the cellar.
The second weekend brings new events. On November 13th, Perticaia , in Montefalco, offers a light autumn dinner featuring a selection of the winery's most iconic labels, accompanied by seasonal produce and tastings of new olive oil. The experience will take place in the wine cellar overlooking the Sagrantino vineyards, in full foliage; those who wish can conclude the evening with chestnuts and a glass of Passito di Sagrantino.
On November 14th and 15th, Agricola Mevante , in Bevagna, is offering dinner and lunch at the winery, respectively. On November 14th , Azienda Agraria Marco e Carlo Carini , in Colle Umberto, is offering a tour of the winery at 11:00 a.m., followed by a tasting of their new sparkling wine paired with small samples of their own production. On the 15th, the afternoon will be dedicated to the new olive oil with "Chats and Oil," led by expert Maurizio Pescari, followed by an aperitif featuring a special dish and a glass of DOC wine.
To close the calendar, on November 15th Cantina Goretti , in Pila, offers a day of brunches, tastings and workshops , adding a further opportunity to spend San Martino among the wines and flavours of the area.
Cantine Aperte a San Martino thus becomes an invitation to discover Umbrian wineries at a time of year different from the traditional wine tourism season. The doors open when the pace slows, the landscape changes color, and the wine experience returns to the forefront with products and gestures strongly tied to the season: roast chestnuts, freshly pressed olive oil, hot dishes, and a shared glass of wine.
With this event, the Umbria Wine Tourism Movement renews its commitment to promoting a wine tourism capable of connecting wine, gastronomy, agriculture and landscape, transforming the visit to the winery into an opportunity to get to know more closely the people and territories behind each bottle.
The events offer different participation options, and in many cases, reservations are required or recommended. For information, costs, availability, and reservations, please contact the individual participating wineries directly.
