  • 26/09/2025

The 33rd edition earned 77 Grand Gold Medals and 221 Gold Medals. New for 2025 is Albania's debut, competing with two award-winning labels.

77 Grand Gold Medals and 221 Gold Medals awarded among the more than 1000 wines in competition: this is the result of the tasting commissions that met recently in Sarre (Aosta) for the 33rd edition of the Mondial des Vins Extrêmes . For the only wine competition in the world dedicated to mountain viticulture, whether on steep slopes or small islands and organized annually by CERVIM – Center for Research, Studies, Safeguarding, Coordination and Promotion of Mountain Viticulture, 2025 also marks an important innovation : Albania 's participation for the first time, awarded with two Gold Medals.

"Year after year, edition after edition, the Mondial des Vins Extrêmes reminds us how stimulating and fascinating heroic viticulture is," says CERVIM President Nicola Abbrescia . "The winemakers participating in our international competition face challenging harvests and unique terroirs, creating wines of quality and character. The participation of over 1,000 labels and the debut of Albania, a small but interesting producer with strong growth potential, confirm how this competition is global and constantly expanding."

In addition to the medals, 17 Special Prizes were also awarded: the CERVIM Grand Prize and the VINOFED Prize to the PDO Valle de Güímar Brumas de Ayosa Blanco Seco 2024 from SAT Viticultores Comarca de Güímar (Arafo, Tenerife), the highest-scoring wine and the best dry wine of the competition. The fifth edition of the Extreme Spirits International Contest , an international competition dedicated to spirits distilled from pomace, lees, and wine, also aimed at promoting their respective production areas, took place simultaneously. The results were excellent: among the 61 competing spirits from Italy, Spain, and Peru, 20 Grand Gold Medals and 2 Special Prizes were awarded. The Extreme Spirits Grand Prize was awarded to the spirit with the highest overall score, the Valle de Güímar Brumas de Ayosa Vermut Blanco 2024 from SAT Viticultores Comarca de Güímar (Arafo, Tenerife), while the Extreme Spirits Excellence Award went to Pisco Viña De Los Campos Mosto Verde Italia from Productora Viña De Los Campos SAC (Lima, Peru) as best wine spirit.
