Long harvest and for single vineyards Monte Zovo focuses on the enhancement of the terroirs

From the end of August to the beginning of November with Calinverno, the Cottini family harvest will enhance the different types of grapes and the different ripening times.

A long harvest for each vineyard , to best enhance the identity of each terroir and grape variety. In Monte Zovo , the Cottini family's farm, the 2020 harvest takes shape, highlighting the qualities that characterize the company based in Caprino Veronese (VR) and owner of 140 hectares of vineyards, distributed in the three main denominations of the province of Verona: Valpolicella, Garda and Lugana. The harvest, which started at the end of August , will continue until the beginning of November with the late harvest of the grapes destined for the production of Calinverno . The flagship wine of Tenuta di Caprino Veronese was born from the intuition of the owner Diego Cottini to exploit the over-ripening of the grapes, leaving them on the vine until the first winter frost appears. Characterizing the Monte Zovo harvest is also the single vineyards project created with the labels of the Natural Inspirations line, composed not only by Calinverno but also by Crocevento, Oltremonte and the latest arrivals Phasianus and Wohlgemuth. The harvest for each vineyard will take place at different times and with different harvesting methods : it will start with the Pinot Grigio, for the production of Wohlgemuth , from about 20 September it will be the turn of the Bardolino grapes, destined for rosé wines and in particular for Phasianus , and finally it will pass to the grapes for Oltremonte Sauvignon and Crocevento Pinot Nero with the harvest at high altitude. The long harvest of Monte Zovo also includes the harvest around mid-September for the Lugana Le Civaie and in Valpolicella for the Amarone, while at the beginning of October it will be the durella grape for the Valpolicella and Valpolicella Ripasso wines of the Tenuta di Tregnago. “The expected production is average , in the Caprino Veronese estate we expect between 80 and 100 quintals per hectare - comments Diego Cottini - Everything promises well, only a climate change can ruin and endanger the quality of the grapes. Our vineyards , located north of Verona between 300 and 900 meters , have been slightly affected and without suffering significant damage from the bad weather that recently affected some areas of Valpolicella and Lugana. The lowering of temperatures has rather favored an increase in the temperature range to the advantage of the grapes in the ripening phase ”. Monte Zovo is also not experiencing problems in the management of manpower , following the health measures implemented by Italy and other countries for the containment of Covid-19. Given the different types of grapes with different ripening periods and consequently the grape harvest, the Cottini family company manages to cover the entire harvest with internal employees and those hired by seasonal service cooperatives.

MONTE ZOVO Producer of wines from Verona, Monte Zovo expresses the best of the DOC denominations from the 140 hectares of owned vineyards in Valpolicella, Bardolino and Chiaretto, Lugana. The values of Family, Excellence and Sustainability are interpreted by the wines, true ambassadors of the company. Wines that enhance local traditions, with great quality and with respect for the viticulture of the territory, and innovative wines, which speak of creativity and talent.
