Protagonists in the hospitality area of the Festival were the eight cheeses that are part of the promotion programme. Eight Dop of excellence that the public was able to taste, listening to the stories of the productions and territories thanks to the presence of the ONAF Master Tasters . Murazzano , Roccaverano , Ossolano from the Piedmont Region, Puzzone di Moena from Trentino, Strachitunt from Lombardy, Vastedda from Valle del Belice and Pecorino were presented and tasted Sicilian from Sicily, and finally the Provolone del Monaco from Campania.
A great opportunity to promote and make the public aware of the issue of small productions, promoting denominations of great excellence but little known. Not only. It was also an opportunity to talk about sustainability and traditions . Here are some direct testimonies of the representatives of the consortia:
“Those just spent in the Langhe were two days of intense work, made up of meetings, comparisons, acquaintances, dialogues and also many laughs. Stories to discover, listen to and tell. Those who are inside and behind these eight great little gems dairy products, but above all those of the people who through the production of these excellences take care of and enhance the territories, carrying forward updated ancient traditions nowadays, with passion, sympathy and professionalism. From this first weekend we bring home a precious baggage: the desire to do well together, strengthened by a team that crosses Italy from North to South where the common thread is the passion for good things, but especially the faces, looks and hands of those who make these cheeses, every day, not with little effort, but with great dedication. A real mission to make known and bring something excellent to the tables, always different, alive, perhaps sometimes even wonderfully imperfect, as a sign of that craftsmanship that has always been distinguishes the made in Italy. We are honored that our Puzzone di Moena Dop does part of this team and we think we can do great things together: the road is traced but all to be covered, it will be three intense years but surely good will come out of this group.” declares Dora Tavernaro representing the Consortium of the Puzzone di Moena Dop .
Roberto Esse representing the Consortium for the Protection of Provolone del Monaco Dop : "A first experience to remember, the huge crowds at the Festival “Collisioni” was the right setting to start this journey. Common ambitions placed in the LoST project have been the best possible starting point for an experience that will certainly be of growth and enrichment for all the Consortia participants. A special thanks to those who did their utmost to ensure everything went the right way."
"Great start for the LoST project, which debuted at the Collisioni event. The project which perfectly matches our objectives" declares the president of the Consortium for the protection, promotion and enhancement of Ossolano Dop cheese, Marco Giannoni and continues, "we are sure that this project can lead to the rediscovery of great Italian cheeses that are little known but of excellent quality, such as Ossolano Dop, but also to the discovery of large territories where the same cheeses are produced. All this with a view to a collective good that can strengthen the social and identity ties of the dairy sectors."
“The Consortiums for the Protection of Vastedda of the Belìce Dop Valley and of Sicilian Pecorino Dop were present at the launch event of the LoST - EU project in Alba, full of expectations for what the project can and will be able to do,” declares Prof. Massimo Todaro . “Although our certified productions do not make up the "numbers" of large consortia, they are excellent products particularly appreciated by attentive consumers. The common objective of the two Sicilian consortia is therefore to increase exports with a improvement of commercial positioning .”
“This weekend of presentation and the start of the works was a unique and precious occasion: the crowning of the tangible beginning of the project. Being able to meet all the LoST consortia and share time and space with them in which to discuss and discuss the present and future phases has convinced us even more of the need to have synergies and common visions, albeit in the differences and peculiarities of the individuals. Hoping that the project will be helpful and profitable for everyone, the dream of the Strachitunt consortium and its associates is to be able to continue for a long time with a collaboration between small realities that tell, each in their own way, their territories without forgetting their both environmental and social sustainability,” declares Marco Orfino for the Strachitunt Dop Consortium .
"Participation in Collisioni represented the kick-off for a great project like LoST, a three-year course which is both an unprecedented challenge and a great one opportunities for the promotion of small PDO cheeses in Italy and in Europe Italian qualities," comments the President of the Alte Terre Association Natalino Giordano . "It was an honor to host so many representative consortia of PDO cheeses from Italian qualities in our Piedmont and put them in contact with excellent dairy products millenary tradition such as Murazzano, Roccaverano and Ossolano Dop. The next appointments will take us to Moena in September and then to the other production areas, to jointly prepare our product penetration campaign in Germany and in Sweden".
A good way, therefore, to start the journey of the LoST project and spread its philosophy, focused on the enhancement of ancient traditions in the light of a new sustainability of European dairy products.
THE NEXT EVENTS OF LoST EU
But LoST doesn't stop there. The didactic and promotional path for the dissemination of the small PDOs of Italian short-chain cheeses will continue in September in Trentino-Alto Adige with the appointment in Moena, home of the Puzzone PDO, and will continue in the other production areas of the cheeses associated with the project. In the autumn, then, LoST will leave for its first stop abroad, in Germany, for a series of events dedicated to both professionals and consumers, with the ambition of making known and telling the excellence of these eight PDO cheeses also beyond the Italian borders, and create links with a wider European public, with which to share the same values of quality, excellence and sustainability.
