«An engaging wine, which excites». Limited edition product will be available from April 2023

Unveiled the mystery behind the black satin bottle, without label, which will debut for the first time in Italy at the next Vinitaly (Verona, 2-5 April) under the brand I Feudi di Romans: it is the new Ribolla Gialla aged in amphora produced for the most prestigious line of the Lorenzon winery whose vines are born in the lands furrowed by the emerald waters of the Isonzo, in the province of Gorizia, in a borderland, a crossroads of different cultures and today also the home of orange wines.

The new reference of the Isonzo winery is a natural wine, from grapes in an advanced state of ripeness, with a long maceration on the skins in hand-made microporous ceramic amphorae and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. It stands out for its longevity. The amber-yellow colour, recalls that of chestnut honey. The new Ribolla Gialla I Feudi di Romans is intense, elegant, delicate; on the nose the notes of jam and candied apricot stand out with a slight reminiscence of licorice; in the mouth it is intense, decisive, but at the same time harmonious and balanced. With a long, pleasant and persistent sip, its complexity is striking and makes you want to drink more. Produced in a limited edition of up to 1,000 bottles, it will be marketed from April 2023.

The amphora is a very ancient container that has its history in the mists of time and has made wine, oil and cereals travel around the world. The decision to produce a wine in amphorae is dictated by respect for the specific characteristics of the vine in its relationship with the terroir. «For years, during my travels - explains Nicola Lorenzon, Sales and Marketing Director of I Feudi di Romans - I tasted wines in amphorae to understand the styles and types and I got involved in this new challenge. We have chosen to create a versatile wine, easy to drink compared to other orange wines, in line with what has always been our corporate philosophy. Indeed, in its complexity, it is a macerate that can be tasted alone, as a meditation wine, or with a dish, and we wanted this precisely to bring the consumer closer to the world of orange wines which are not always easy to match. Our new Ribolla Gialla in amphora, in fact, makes you drink the second glass. It is a wine that has a double soul. An engaging wine that excites you».

The decision to refine Ribolla Gialla in amphoras follows a path linked to sustainability that began years ago with the creation of an advanced irrigation system buried in the vineyards which allows the Lorenzon winery to save 80% of water, a photovoltaic system capable of cover the energy needs of a part of the company, the creation of an oasis for bees, which have always been considered sentinels of the environment, the achievement of SQNPI certification for integrated agriculture, the introduction of lighter glass bottles , the launch of Fysi, an organic and resistant wine, and now the latest in natural wines.

«We decided to refine the Ribolla Gialla in amphora - explains Davide Lorenzon, Winemaker of the Lorenzon Agricultural Company - due to the organoleptic characteristics of the vine which are ideal for this type of winemaking and in addition we have deliberately chosen a native of our region also for demonstrate how long-lived the wines of Friuli-Venezia Giulia can be. It's not just the amphora that makes this wine unique. It starts from the vineyard with a suitable soil composed of noble clays, gravel and sand and with particular and dedicated processes. We then chose a late harvest done only by hand by our best grape harvesters, to arrive at the vinification and maturation in amphorae which allows the varietal characteristics of the vine and its mineral notes to be preserved and best expressed. Furthermore, 2021 was a good year for our vineyards. The heat, in fact, gave more structure and body to the ribolla. It will be a vintage capable of giving satisfaction over the years to this wine which has an aging potential of 10 years».

The new Ribolla Gialla in amphora I Feudi di Romans can be combined with all those preparations that recall delicious fish and seafood dishes, oriental cuisine, spiced and tasty land-based first and second courses. Also excellent drunk alone.

The Lorenzon Srl agricultural company is located in the municipality of San Canzian d'Isonzo (GO), in the heart of the DOC Friuli Isonzo, 100 kilometers east of Venice, at the same latitude as southern Burgundy, Cognac and Oregon. The family-run winery was founded in 1974 and is managed by Enzo Lorenzon, together with his sons Davide, Winemaker, and Nicola, Sales and Marketing Director. The company distributes over 500,000 bottles every year in Italy and in the most important foreign countries.
