The harvest just concluded in Costaripa brings with it the story of a fluctuating season, complex to interpret, but capable of producing surprisingly balanced fruit.
“ The 2025 harvest was an exercise in listening and measurement,” comments Mattia Vezzola. “ We pursued perfection not in the ideal fruit, but in the ability to capture the exact moment. The result is a vintage that tells a story .”
After a slightly delayed flowering, the summer was marked by extreme weather: scorching heat waves and narrow temperature differences between day and night accelerated the vegetative phases until the end of July. The turning point came with the abundant rains of early August, which refreshed the vines and reshaped the ripening prospects.
Since August 4th, the Moniga vineyards have required a fresh look, intent on capturing the perfect balance between beauty and ripeness. Starting on August 14th, eleven days of clear sunshine accompanied the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay harvest: perfect grapes, intact, fresh, and already primed for natural elegance.
On September 8th, it was the turn of the red grape varieties destined for the winery's signature wine: Groppello Gentile, Marzemino, Sangiovese, and Barbera. Well-calibrated bunches, plump berries, crisp skins, and coffee-colored seeds signaled impeccable ripeness, in keeping with the idea of precision that has always guided Mattia Vezzola's work.
As per tradition, the Costaripa red harvest recorded yields below the specifications (-30%), with a further 10% reduction for 2025: a conscious qualitative choice, which prioritizes excellence over quantity.
The musts, now fully evolving, are clean and fragrant, without any hesitation. The wines' promise is already clear: expressions of elegance, that stylistic hallmark that for Vezzola signifies a balance between alcohol moderation, freshness, and complexity of flavors and aromas.
With the harvest now over, Costaripa is handing over a vintage that, despite being the product of a difficult season, promises to enrich the Garda Classico tradition and confirm Mattia Vezzola as the undisputed leader in the Italian rosé wine scene.
