Franco Cristoforetti was re-elected President of the Consortium for the protection of Chiaretto and Bardolino during the board of directors held on Tuesday 7 July 2020. Agostino Rizzardi and Davide Ronca were confirmed as vice-presidents. Matteo Birolli, Ivan Castelletti, Piergiuseppe Crestani, Fulvio Benazzoli, Mario Boni, Roberta Bricolo, Fabio Dei Micheli, Alberto Marchisio, Giannantonio Marconi, Mattia Piccoli, Luca Sartori and Fausto Zeni make up the renewed board. Marco Ruffato, Lucio Salier and Lorenzo Mario Sartori are members of the Board of Statutory Auditors, as well as Nicola Bonfante and Massimo Brutti, who serve as alternates. "The next three years - explains Cristoforetti, who is in his third term - will see the enormous commitment that our production chain poured into the radical reorganization of our denomination , first with the Rosé Revolution , which allowed the Chiaretto di Bardolino to materialize play the leading role among the Italian pink wines with geographical mention, and then with the Bardolino Cru project, which led to the recognition, in the new specification, of our three historic sub-areas La Rocca, Montebaldo and Sommacampagna . We will continue to pay attention to the Italian market, which is rewarding us, to consolidate the traditional European markets and to grow in the United States and Canada, markets that were finally starting to give us satisfaction before the lockdown imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic ". In particular, the positioning of the Chiaretto di Bardolino on the Italian market has been the subject of research conducted by Bva Doxa on behalf of the Protection Consortium. “There are two false myths that must be dispelled when it comes to pink wines. The first is that rosé wines are suitable only for summer - continues Cristoforetti - the second is that they have a predominantly female consumption. The investigation shows that both of these beliefs are wrong, at least as far as the Chiaretto di Bardolino is concerned, which is also chosen equally by men and is consumed throughout the year. This is valuable information, which allows us to better orient our strategies ". The data of the Bva Doxa survey are clear, as regards the knowledge of Bardolino's Chiaretto there is no substantial difference between men and women : 35% of Italian wine drinkers and 34% of drinkers know it . In addition, the propensity to buy among the connoisseurs of Chiaretto is very high , with 93% of respondents saying that it is sure to choose it when they see it on the shelf or on a wine list. The share of those who express absolute purchasing certainty is 33%, only with a slight female prevalence, 35% against 31% of males, while the age group is quite irrelevant, 30% among the youngest and 35% among the less young. Another fact to underline is that the majority of those in Italy who usually drink pink wine do so throughout the year : 70% of the interviewees have no seasonal preferences to uncork a bottle of rosé. The image profile of the Chiaretto di Bardolino and its territory is also very high. 91% of its regular consumers consider it perfect as an aperitif, 89% say it comes from an area famous for wine, 86% focus on the particular selection of grapes destined for its production and always 86% of the champion chooses it because "it is inviting, it makes you want to drink it", just as 84% of the interviewees maintain that "it adapts well to the tastes of today's consumers". Furthermore, for 85% of regular consumers, Chiaretto "is original, distinguishes itself from other pink wines". More generally, the report shows that among Italian wine consumers, the share of those who drink pink wine even occasionally is 37%, against 81% of red wines and 61% of whites. Going instead to see only regular wine consumers, the share of pink wine is 10% and is almost identical between men (9%) and women (10%), with a prevalence of the range between 25 and 44 years, in the which the percentage of those who drink rosé usually is 13%. 89% of regular rose wine drinkers mainly consume Italian labels, 23% also drink French rosé, Portuguese rosés resist 12%.
