Cantina di Montecchia di Crosara presents the new “Montecletha”

  • 03/10/2023

The Cadis 1898 group has created its first Lessini Durello Riserva Nature 60 months, an elegant Classic Method produced in just 1,898 bottles.

It is called "Montecletha" and is a tribute to the territory from which it was born: Montecchia di Crosara, a municipality in the north-east of Verona where the winery of the same name, part of Cadis 1898, is located.

Strengthened by the success achieved in the world of sparkling wines, Cadis 1898 thus continues its path of innovation in the wake of tradition with this new reference which enriches the offer of bubbles in a denomination in which the company firmly believes.

Expression of the best Durella grape vineyards, “ Montecletha” is born from the careful selection of the grape lots that the Cadis 1898 winemakers consider most suitable for long refinement. It rests for 5 years on the lees, acquiring a fascinating depth and harmonious intensity. It is a Nature Reserve, because in addition to remaining on the yeasts for at least 36 months, the final sugar residue of the wine is less than 3 grams per liter. The first vintage is the result of the 2017 harvest.

Together with the Lessini Durello Brut “733” and the Lessini Durello “Collineri” Riserva 36 months, the new label enriches the range of Cantina di Montecchia di Crosara, making it the protagonist of this trilogy which represents the very essence of the art of producing fine bubbles 'excellence. “We have great faith in the name of Durello and the launch of “Montecletha” goes precisely in this direction”, states the general director of Cadis 1898 Wolfgang Raifer, “It is important that even a reality of important dimensions like ours continues to research the quality in the bottle, even with niche products that have nothing to envy compared to more famous denominations". “This year's production”, continues Raifer, “is 1,898 bottles, like the year Cadis was founded, a quantity that we are already aiming to double with the next vintage”.

Tasting notes:

We are faced with a wine that is refined in steel until draft, followed by refermentation in the bottle and rest on the yeasts for 60 months. The color is a straw yellow with golden reflections, the perlage is fine and persistent. On the nose it is dense and compact with fresh floral notes of acacia and orange blossom and fruity notes of exotic fruit, candied citron and bergamot accompanied by very refined hints of yeast overall. The good tension on the palate is tempered by the creamy pace and a decidedly persistent finish.
