In 2023 the Vulture cooperative company recorded a double-digit increase in turnover (17%) and bottles sold (11%) compared to 2022; in line with a constant growth trend: compared to 2019 30% in value and 72% in volume. A growth, however, which has been taking place for some time in the name of sustainability, certified by many projects, including the Code of Ethics for employees and suppliers, the Equalitas environmental certification, satellite management of the vineyards, food safety standards, the economic balance sheet of sustainability and, soon, the new sustainable architecture project.
More 11% of bottles sold, more 17% of turnover. This is the growth recorded by Cantina di Venosa (Pz) in 2023 compared to the previous year, a figure that once again confirms the positive economic trend of the Vulture wine cooperative, the only one in Basilicata and among the most important in the sector in southern Italy .
These are the data in summary: 1.9 million bottles in 2023 compared to 1.7 million sold in 2022; approximately 7.4 million euros invoiced in 2023 compared to approximately 6.3 million euros in 2022. An even more significant trend if calculated over the five-year period: compared to 2019, approximately 30% more in value and 72% in volume , as highlighted in the table below.
“These are important numbers that mark a development path that we have been working on for years with many projects on multiple fronts – commented the president of Cantina di Venosa , Francesco Perillo -. For example, we have recently revolutionized our logistics organization to make the warehouse and order management more efficient, making use of robotic machinery. And for years we have been growing with a sustainability approach, a theme on which we are engaged with many projects, including satellite scanning of an increasingly significant part of our vineyards, currently 150 hectares, to have a photograph of the vegetative cycle which allows us to know with extreme precision where water stress conditions or risks of pathogenic diseases occur and intervene promptly. But in addition to the Sentinel 2 project – adds President Perillo – we have long been committed to economic and social sustainability. We have promoted a Code of Ethics for employees, suppliers and customers; we have adopted a set of voluntary standards and certifications that further ensure the wholesomeness of the wines. The Sustainability Report was born in 2022 and last year the Equalitas certification on environmental sustainability arrived. We will soon complete the first part of the work of a large redevelopment project of our cellar, with a sustainable architecture project."
