Journalists Lavinia Furlani and Fabio Piccoli, directors of Wine Meridian, faced with their children and the camper Gino, 6000 km around Italy to meet the wineries in a gesture of trust and hope.

The Italian Wine Tour ends on Thursday 6 August in the splendid setting of Villa Sandi, among the green hills of the Marca Trevigiana, an enological itinerary of 6000 kilometers along the boot, which brought journalists Lavinia Furlani and Fabio Piccoli to meet 60 wineries in 18 different regions , under the banner of "Trust in the future of Italian wine". 60 stories and 120 tastings to understand together with the protagonists how Italian wine is evolving and where it is going, to do something tangible, to give a contribution and a signal of optimism in a phase of recovery in the world of Italian wine.

The two journalists faced the journey in the Italy of wine, for the whole month of July and the first week of August, together with their children Anna and Biagio with the camper Gino who has become a real protagonist of the adventure. His adventures, between obstacles along the way, magnificent landscapes and new human and non-human friends, were told on the social channels of the journalistic magazine Wine Meridian and on the pages of the website www.winemeridian.com. But the real protagonists of the adventure were they, the women and men of Italian wine, who are facing this delicate moment with optimism and confidence in the future.

“Meeting these people on a tour like this, entering their land and their" home ", also taking them to measure themselves with hospitality and above all with trust, overcoming doubts and fears, was an incredible dose of energy. At the heart of our project is the story: in our daily articles, but also in the posts on our social pages, we have told what we have learned from them, with the aim of putting men and women of wine at the center " explained Lavinia Furlani , Wine Meridian's editorial director.

“I consider the end of this journey the beginning of a new way of narrating Italian wine, capable of communicating our extraordinary winemaking identities by living them from within. Our journey, therefore, does not end today but will continue to ensure that the story of Italian wine is as authentic and authoritative as possible ”continued Fabio Piccoli , managing director of Wine Meridian.

The place chosen for the last stage is in Veneto, the region from which the camper left on Friday 3 July. Villa Sandi , owned by the Moretti Polegato family, is based in Crocetta del Montello and estates and vineyards in the most renowned DOC and DOCG areas between Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. A vast territory and an enviable natural heritage from which Villa Sandi obtains the precious grapes for the production of its excellence, the result of a close harmony with nature. "We are very pleased that Villa Sandi will host the final stage of the Wine Meridian tour. For us a recognition of our vocation to welcome, which has its roots in the early nineties, when we were among the first wineries to open their doors. to visitors to lead them to learn about the world of wine, in a journey through art, history, architecture and territory "explained Giancarlo Moretti Polegato , president of Villa Sandi." After weeks and months of meetings, tastings and virtual tours, which allowed to stay in touch with customers and visitors, a good sign of trust in the restart, a return to meetings in person, to sharing, in one of the most evocative wine-growing areas, the Prosecco hills ”continued Giancarlo Moretti Polegato.

“This experience was not only ours, but yours and that of all those, and we know that there are so many of us who love Italian wine and have great faith in its bright future. It seemed like the best way to testify to two fundamental things for us: trust and relationships . Two fundamental elements that perhaps are the ones that most have been missed by all (therefore many) those who have lived and are partly still living this dramatic experience of the pandemic ”concluded Lavinia and Fabio.
