Pucciarella and Trequanda: two new voices for Umbria and the Tuscan wine hinterland.

  • 06/10/2025

Thanks to the Cariplo Pension Fund, the two agricultural companies are entering the national market, with a particular focus on hospitality.

The Pucciarella (Perugia) and Trequanda (Siena) wineries, leading companies in Umbria and the area between the Val d'Orcia and Val di Chiana in Tuscany, are revamping their brand identity and introducing a winemaking project aimed at national HORECA distribution . "The Cariplo Personnel Pension Fund 's continued and substantial growth plan for its business plan," says Mauro Selva , the Fund's general manager, "consolidates our land investment in two areas with high agricultural and hospitality potential, which demand and deserve to be explored and developed . Specifically, the value of the two companies' assets stands at € 12 million for Pucciarella and €18 million for Trequanda ." The Pucciarella vineyard extends over 85 hectares on the most suitable and best-exposed hillsides between Magione and Corciano, on soil composed primarily of marl, a clayey-calcareous mix. The Trequanda vineyards, on the other hand, extend between 350 and 450 meters above sea level over 60 hectares, between the Val di Chiana and Val d'Asso, within the Chianti DOCG, Orcia DOC, and Toscana IGT appellations, predominantly on silt and salt-rich sandstone. In addition to viticulture, Trequanda stands out for its excellent breeding of Chianina cattle , with approximately 290 head of the highest genetic quality. From an agronomic and oenological perspective, production focuses on native and international varieties interpreted with a territorial focus, thanks to cutting-edge technologies and winemaking practices. This results in two selections that combine the vocation of the place with the tastes of today's market , with a focus on freshness, drinkability, and a correspondence to the terroir in the glass. In terms of volume , Pucciarella produces 120,000 bottles and 100,000 bottles for Trequanda, which will be distributed through the company shop, e-commerce, and the Horeca channel, which is currently being defined. From an aesthetic perspective, the product and institutional designs seek elegance and recognizability through soft, essential shapes, evocative illustrations, contemporary colors, and a careful selection of materials and finishes. The Umbrian line is distinguished by the presence of the "pucciarelle," female figures harking back to local mythology, and the lake in the native Plèstina Trasimeno Gamay, symbol of the denomination. Trequanda, on the other hand, emphasizes its symbiotic connection with the village from which it takes its name, a place where agricultural tradition blends with its medieval history. Both estates are structured to offer attentive yet simple and sincere hospitality , to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Pucciarella is housed in a medieval-style castle built in 1717. Inside, it features 11 apartments overlooking a private garden with a pool for guests, along with two halls suitable for events. Trequanda, on the other hand, manages two tourist residences, one within the medieval village and an agriturismo a few kilometers away.
