Activity in the last months of 2025, after the national meeting of members
the literary competition "Drink the Territory," the Autoctono si nasce Tour...
Commitment to more sustainable events.
It's time to take stock of the Go Wine association.
At the end of a busy September, we look ahead to the final months of 2025, with an eye already on 2026, which will also be the 25th year of activity for this organization founded in Alba in 2001 with the goal of promoting wine tourism and wine culture and highlighting several strategic issues for the sector.
The members' meeting, held at the end of September at Barolo Castle, recalled and redefined a new commitment for the Go Wine member.
Looking ahead to a challenging 2025, with wine often under attack due to multiple issues, the assembly reflected on the need for a new and increasingly proactive role for Go Wine members.
During the meeting, sensitive issues that have affected the current year were raised. Four in particular: the problems arising from the increased penalties for driving licences, and the subsequent and clumsy attempt by some to equate wine with alcohol, even to the point of considering treating a wine label like... a cigarette packaging.
And again the difficulties that have emerged in terms of trends and consumption (and prices...), with the opening to dealcoholized wines, ending with the issue of duties which opens another front, of a commercial nature, but always insidious as regards consumption and the health of the cellars.
Some have rightly spoken of a sort of “attack on wine”.
We believe ,” says Massimo Corrado, president of Go Wine, “ that behind these events lies a sort of denial, a failure to recognize, some of the fundamental aspects that have instead been at the basis of the affirmation of quality wine over the last 30 years.
That is, wine as an expression of the history and civilization of a people, as a product that can communicate land and place, which is the fruit of the far-sighted work of many winemakers in a context in which multiple positive values concur.
"Italian wine is not only a driving force behind Made in Italy, " Corrado continues, " but also an expression of a message of quality and culture for a country like Italy; all these negative actions and messages combined seem to ignore a reality that is, in fact, very evident."
Given this context, here is the call for a new identity for the Go Wine member as an entity that increasingly promotes and defends an important idea of wine, in the face of misguided attacks that profane the history and identity of a product that has always accompanied the civilization of a country like Italy.
The themes are therefore updated: the Go Wine membership is not only for those who believe wine is worth a trip, but also for those who believe wine is an expression of the culture and civilization of many places and an expression of the foresight of many winemakers who, with their work, cultivate the land, create environmental protection, and above all, important values.
Therefore, a member who rebels against mistaken attacks and instead commits to working to ensure that viticulture and wine are important issues to defend and promote.
We also hope that the wine world will be more united and will be able to react to what sometimes seem like mere provocations, but can seriously damage consumption.
The initiatives carried out and underway are grafted onto this context.
The Bere il Territorio literary competition concluded its 24th edition on Saturday, September 27th, with the awards ceremony at Grinzane Cavour Castle. It was precisely these themes that sparked another important season, a commitment that has continued for 24 years.
The Alba Wine Festival on September 21st and 28th is a great opportunity for winemakers and wine enthusiasts to meet, and is also managed with economic sustainability in mind, an increasingly important factor in encouraging consumption and public engagement.
Now the news of the “Autoctono si Nasce…” tour in Italy : the first stages took place in Rome at the end of September, in Turin on October 6th and in Genoa on October 9th. While we await the next stages in Bologna (October 16th) and Florence (November 12th).
The Tour becomes an event that takes on a broader, even more complex meaning. It's not just a promotion of the richness and diversity of Italy's ampelographic heritage, nor a recognition of the many winemakers who have invested in less productive or more difficult grape varieties, but an opportunity to discuss land, roots, and people, thus highlighting the very issues some would attack or ignore.
Go Wine's latest challenge is sustainability, which is receiving particular attention through a series of initiatives that make Go Wine events more sustainable and mindful of the use of materials, avoiding waste, and creating the conditions for recycling certain goods, starting with the recovery of corks, a project that has been underway for many months.
Where sustainability becomes part of the wine tourism experience, not as a constraint but as an added value for producers, regions, and the public.
Go Wine is therefore a message that presents itself with many faces.
It is the sign of a community that speaks to different subjects and in different ways, but which nevertheless has some precise underlying lines.
To establish wine culture as an important issue for a country like Italy, to bring together many people so that a passion and a vision of attentiveness towards wine can provide an opportunity to reflect on strategic issues: the theme of wine civilization, the call for proper and informed consumption, and the increasingly relevant value of sustainability, which draws on nature and the environment.
These are current issues that concern not only wine but also an entire community.
