Visits, experiences and tastings, Umbrian cellars open to wine tourists for the Easter holidays

Gourmet tastings, brunches in the vineyards, tours among barrels and hills, up to Easter lunches inspired by tradition: the wineries of Movimento Turismo del Vino Umbria are preparing to offer wine tourists a long weekend of experiences designed for those who choose to celebrate Easter and Easter Monday by combining the pleasure of discovering wine with the wonder of nature . From the Montefalco area, the heart of Sagrantino, to the Orvieto hills, passing through Todi, Bevagna, Torgiano and San Venanzo, the Umbrian wineries offer a kaleidoscope of proposals.

" Wine tourism is a pleasant opportunity for everyone - comments Giovanni Dubini , President of MTV Umbria - and on the occasion of Easter and Easter Monday, more and more people choose to spend these days in the cellar. The tight rhythms of everyday life correspond to the desire for contact with nature, for sensory experiences and leisure that combine the pleasure of tasting with the enjoyment of outdoor activities in the philosophy of slow tourism. Movimento Turismo del Vino Umbria is working to support the cellars in building this type of offer, meeting the requests of increasingly numerous, varied and attentive visitors to conscious consumption" .

In Montefalco, Arnaldo Caprai celebrates Easter with three experiences designed to surprise every type of visitor. On April 19 and 20, Easter in the Vineyard – Breakfast invites you to enjoy a picnic among the rows with a basket full of Umbrian specialties, from lamb offal to cheesecake paired with the winery's most representative labels, with live swing music and a guided tour. Also on Saturday and Sunday, the Easter Aperitif in the Cellar offers a gourmet tasting at sunset in the charming Piazzetta Monte della Torre, with signature finger food and glasses of Sagrantino. Finally, on April 21, Easter Monday in the Cellar is celebrated with a creative brunch served among the vineyards: gourmet fried pizzas, a selection of meats, tempura vegetables and a vertical tasting of Caprai wines accompany an entire day spent outdoors, with live music.

Still in the heart of Sagrantino, Cantina Semonte , open on Easter Sunday, welcomes visitors with two wine tasting options, from the simplest formula with snacks and focaccia to the complete one with a platter of cold cuts and cheeses, for a moment of relaxation between glasses and flavors.

Lungarotti , in its Montefalco estate, offers an open-air Easter Monday among vineyards, games and authentic flavors. It begins with a guided tour of the vineyard and cellar, followed by an aperitif with Brut Rosé and a picnic among the rows with a gourmet basket, wine included and kids option. In the afternoon, old-fashioned games and an egg hunt in the vineyard complete the experience for adults and children.

Moving to Bevagna, Mevante welcomes guests with two lunches not to be missed: on Easter Sunday, a refined menu with traditional dishes reinterpreted with elegance, including artichoke risotto, lamb chops and pastiera with hot zabaglione; on Easter Monday, instead, guinea fowl ravioli and leg of lamb give way to a more informal but equally refined atmosphere, always accompanied by the company's wines.

A short distance away, Di Filippo , an organic and biodynamic farm between Torgiano and Cannara, celebrates Easter Monday with an immersive experience in tradition and nature. On March 28, guests are invited to participate in the Sdijunittu di Pasquetta, a typical Umbrian breakfast served between 10 am and 12:30 pm and from 3 pm to 6:30 pm, which includes lamb offal, local organic cheeses, typical cured meats, cheese cake and organic eggs from the farm. The day continues with relaxing carriage rides through the biodynamic vineyards.

In Collevalenza, near Todi, Cantina Todini welcomes guests on April 18, 19 and 21 with two proposals by appointment: the Wine Experience, with a visit to the cellar and tasting of 4 wines accompanied by bread and organic EVO oil, and the Wine & Food Experience, which adds a platter of typical cold cuts and cheeses and a taste of Vermouth Tuder.

In San Venanzo, Fattoria di Monticello offers a refined Easter lunch with traditional Umbrian dishes revisited with elegance, from artichoke flan to lamb rack, to millefeuille with berries. Special menu also for the little ones.

On Monday 21st April, on the occasion of Easter Monday, the Antonelli San Marco winery offers a day in the open air between taste and nature, at 12pm it will be possible to participate in a guided tour of the winery, followed by a picnic with typical local products: hard-boiled eggs, home-made cold cuts, Easter cake, cheese cake, local cheeses accompanied by Sagrantino Antonelli jam and wood-fired bread. To conclude, the crescionda, a traditional dessert of the area, all paired with Montefalco Grechetto 2024.

New for 2025 for Movimento Turismo del Vino Umbria, starting from the Easter holidays and for the long period of the following holidays between April and May, is the partnership with the tour operator Ciclovery , specialized in cycle tourism in Umbria. Ciclovery will offer throughout the region, from Orvieto to Perugia passing through Montefalco, up to the Trasimeno area and the Amelia area, the possibility of following e-bike itineraries starting from the MTV Umbria member wineries. The routes, accessible even to less expert cycle tourists, will end with a tasting in the winery, combining the slow exploration of the territory with the pleasure of tasting. The “Bike & Wine” formula and the available itineraries, as well as booking, can be consulted on the website www.ciclovery.com.
