A project that unites producers and restaurateurs to tell the story of the region through the glass and food pairings .
The Barbera d'Asti and Monferrato Wines Consortium presents "Monferrato by the Glass," a new initiative dedicated to promoting protected appellations and fostering connections between Monferrato wineries and Milanese restaurants. The project will unfold in two distinct phases: a first series of events in October and November 2026 , and a second in February and March 2027 , involving selected wineries and restaurants in the city of Milan.
The initiative aims to showcase the richness of Monferrato's winemaking heritage through a hands-on tasting experience, where each wine finds its ideal pairing with the dishes offered by the participating restaurants. For a month, each participating establishment will offer a special pairing menu, designed to present their guests with a selection of labels from the partner winery to accompany their menu items.
Each restaurant will participate in the project with three labels from the denominations protected by the Barbera d'Asti and Vini del Monferrato Consortium , thus offering consumers a complete tasting experience and knowledge of the various winemaking expressions of the area.
The project will kick off in October with five prestigious collaborations between Milanese producers and restaurateurs. The participating venues were selected by Susanna Amerigo's "Non so cucinare ma" (I Can't Cook But) , and include Bel Sit Winery with Bela Tusa, Cantamessa with Bottega Lucia, Maciot with RAW Restaurant, Boeri Vini with La Scaletta , and Marchesi Alfieri with Stendhal Brera . Each venue will offer wines protected by the Consortium by the glass, accompanied by food pairings designed to showcase their characteristics.
"Monferrato by the Glass" was born from the desire to bring the story of the Monferrato appellations to one of the most important markets for quality wine consumption, fostering direct dialogue between producers, restaurateurs, and consumers. Through service by the glass and specially designed food pairings, customers will be able to discover the distinctive features of the wines and their terroirs in a natural and engaging context.
The initiative, coordinated by the Consortium, is part of a broader project to promote the Monferrato region and wine production. The project is being implemented by the ATS Monferrato, led by the Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato Consortium, and funded through the Piedmont Rural Development Program 2023-2027 .
