Cannonau Experience 2026 – Dorgali, September 12

  • 29/08/2026

The fourth edition of the Cannonau Experience will take place on September 12, 2026, in Dorgali, in the Ispinigoli Valley.

Authentic Sardinia presents the fourth edition of the Cannonau Experience, an event that marks a turning point in the Sardinian wine tourism landscape and establishes itself as a concrete model for integrated territorial promotion. Now in its fourth year, the Cannonau Experience is no longer just an event: it has become a highly anticipated event for Cannonau connoisseurs and enthusiasts, an annual ritual for those seeking an experience that goes beyond a simple tasting. As with great international wine traditions—where initiatives that began as local tastings evolve over time into exclusive events requiring advance booking—the Cannonau Experience is also consolidating its identity: limited seating, mandatory reservations, and a format that sells out quickly, fueling anticipation and a desire to participate. The Cannonau Experience offers a narrative experience that unites three key elements: Cannonau wine, the enological symbol of Sardinia; the natural heritage of the Ispinigoli Cave; and the local culinary tradition. This strategy responds to a consolidated global trend: experiential tourism and wine tourism are today among the most dynamic segments of the global tourism industry. According to leading international research firms, the sector recorded 12.3% growth in the five-year period 2020-2025, with projections indicating an annual growth rate of over 13% through 2033—data that confirms a strongly accelerating trend.

The 2026 edition will take selected guests through six themed stages, from 3:30 pm to 10:30 pm on September 12, on an immersive journey to discover the Ispinigoli Valley: Su Anzu Cave and Church of San Giovanni Battista – Welcome and coffee ritual First Vineyard – Vermentino from Cantina Bacchitta (Tapas from Nuovo Gabbiano Restaurant) Second Vineyard – Rosé from Vigne Bocca (Cured meats from Salumificio Barbagia, Carasau bread from Panificio Rosa Sagheddu) Third Vineyard – Cannonau Rosso from Vigne Ziu Andria (Cheeses from Cooperativa Pastori Dorgali, accompanied by traditional potato bread su moddizosu, the soft and distinctive bread of Dorgali culture) Ispinigoli Terrace – "Rosa e Luna" sparkling wine from Cantina Sociale di Dorgali Typical Harvest Dinner – A journey into the most authentic flavors of Dorgali tradition: suckling pig Sardinian, crunchy and golden, and sheep cooked with Supramonte herbs.

The story of September 12th is just one of the many stories the Dorgali area has to offer. With its 224 km², Dorgali boasts a unique diversity: sea, Cedrino River, reservoirs, caves, plateaus, canyons, and archaeological sites. This wealth of resources represents enormous potential for future editions of the Cannonau Experience, with ever-changing itineraries capable of surprising even the most experienced visitors.

Wine tourism represents a strategic lever for Sardinia: Wine tourists tend to spend significantly more than traditional tourists. It encourages deseasonalization. It generates added value compared to seaside tourism. It strengthens the local brand through wine, a tool for international place branding. The landscape between the Ispinigoli Cave and the Su Anzu Cave is one of the most fascinating natural settings in the Dorgali area: a karst plateau sculpted by time, where the white rock of the Supramonte meets holm oak forests, ancient springs, and underground cavities that hold ancient stories. The Ispinigoli Cave, with its famous stalagmite column, dominates a natural terrace overlooking the valley, while a little further downstream, the Su Anzu Cave contains a system of karst waters that intertwine with the thermal waters that rise from underground and feed the historic Su Anzu spa, where the presence of hot water testifies to the unique geothermal activity that characterizes the area. In this location, just a few kilometers from Dorgali, a new winery has emerged, planting vineyards in a unique natural setting, producing a Cannonau of excellent quality, an authentic expression of the terroir. This unique stretch of land, where nature, geology, and history blend together, creates a landscape that becomes the ideal backdrop for immersive and narrative experiences of great identity.

Authentic Sardinia intends to propose the Cannonau Experience as a model that can be replicated in other Sardinian wine-growing areas. Plans include: Expanding capacity from 20 to 50–100 participants, up to a future target of 140, while maintaining the experiential quality; Creating themed itineraries dedicated to oil, cheese, and archaeology; Integrating with accommodation facilities and transfer services.
