The new dates announced on Monday 15 April at the Valle d'Aosta Region stand at Veronafiere. Debut for Nicola Abbrescia, new President of CERVIM

The presentation of the 32nd Mondial des Vins Extrêmes , the only wine competition in the world specifically dedicated to wines resulting from extreme viticulture, was held on Monday 15 April at the stand of the Valle d'Aosta Region at Vinitaly. The 2024 edition will be held in Sarre (Aosta) on Sunday 29th and Monday 30th September . The fourth Extreme Spirits International Contest is also scheduled on the same dates, a competition aimed at distillates made from pomace, lees and wine from heroic areas.

For the occasion, the new President of CERVIM - Center for Research, Studies, Safeguarding, Coordination and Enhancement for Mountain Viticulture Nicola Abbrescia was supported by Marco Carrel , Councilor for Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Valle d'Aosta Region, Alessandra Dinato , Ambassador of Eroica Viticulture CERVIM, and Franco Santini , journalist and food and wine critic.

“Those who work for heroic viticulture are a fundamental actor for the community because they preside over the territory and produce quality – declares Nicola Abbrescia -. Our event, which aims to reward the work of these winemakers, has over the years become a fundamental point of reference for professionals and for the curious public and wine enthusiasts, but also a moment of discussion and growth for the producers themselves".

Organized annually by CERVIM , since 1992 the Mondial des Vins Extrêmes aims to promote and safeguard the production of small island or mountain wine-growing areas, on steep slopes or terraces. The Extreme Spirits International Contest intends to enhance not only the spirits but also the respective production areas, as well as guiding consumers towards responsible consumption and the choice of these particular products.

Special tasting commissions , each made up of 5 members including wine technicians, oenologists, journalists and expert tasters, will meet at the end of September in Valle d'Aosta to evaluate the competing wines and spirits
