On Friday, 25th September, at 10:00 a.m., in Milan, at the Leonardo’s Vineyard – Atellani House, there will be a seminar devoted to the path of sustainability developed by the wine industry, from grape harvest to distillation.
The initiative, which has the patronage of Expo 2015, is part of the "Ecocloud: the network of good sustainable practices" project of Confagricoltura, which with its Manifesto promotes the economic, environmental and social sustainability, by spreading on the Internet the best innovative technologies. The new event, introduced by Vice Chairman of Confagricoltura
Ezio Veggia, aims to illustrate how the European and national strategies are giving increasing attention to the environmental sustainability of wine production. At the same time he wants to highlight how, enterprise–wide, the adoption of specific agricultural techniques, of harvesting, processing and organization, allows to improve sustainability not only from the environmental, but also from the economic point of view, through lower production costs and higher market visibility. On the latter aspect, and in particular on the interest of consumers to buy products that communicate attention to sustainability,
Eugenio Pomarici, of the University of Padua, will speak, to be followed by the intervention of
Pieter Ravaglia of the Ministry of Environment and
Giovanni Rizzotti of the Italian Wine Union, which will describe the main regulations on sustainability of the wine industry (VIVA and TEREGO projects). To recount the commitment of the companies on economic, environmental and social sustainability, will be five companies in the wine and distillation sectors from different regional realities that will be interviewed by journalist
Antonio Paolini.
Marco Rossi of the
Antico Podere di Pomaio farm and
Arturo Ziliani of the
Guido Berlucchi company will present their experiences on sustainability and on the application of innovative agricultural practices. To follow, the experience of
Maria Carla Bonollo of the
Bonollo distillery, which uses the by–products of the vinification phase (lees and marc) both for the production of distillates, and for new products destined to various markets, in the perspective of a circular economy. Environmental and economic sustainability of the social wine industry is also strongly linked to the development of the territory, through innovations and business unions, in accordance with its traditions and culture. On these issues that concern the relation between sustainability and territories will intervene:
Alessio Planeta, of the
Planeta company and
Marco Caprai of the
Arnaldo Caprai company.
