Anticipation is growing for the Garda DOC Consortium's participation in the thirty-first edition of ProWein, one of the most prestigious international wine trade fairs, scheduled to take place at the Messe Düsseldorf from March 15 to 17 and ready to welcome over 90,000 visitors from around the world.
" Participating in this edition of ProWein represents a very important milestone for our appellation and for all the entities we represent. We are talking about one of the most important events in the wine world, and being here as a Consortium—created to protect, promote, and enhance the excellence of our territory, even internationally—is a source of great pride. It sends a strong signal: the appellation is here and wants to be a protagonist ," stated Paolo Fiorini, President of the Consortium, highlighting the strategic importance of this choice, at a time when interest in low-alcohol products without sacrificing flavor and the connection to the territory is growing.
For the first time, the Consortium will be present with its own official stand (Hall 3 – Stand D16), a choice that marks a strategic step in the appellation's international positioning. This debut is even more significant given the historic and strong ties between Lake Garda and the German market: always among the region's main commercial and tourist partners, and now also a key partner in the DOC's development.
In Düsseldorf, the Consortium will present a significant innovation: the Garda DOC denomination—the first Italian DOC to include low-alcohol wines—will offer a selection of labels with an alcohol content of around 9% vol., produced by some of its member companies and soon to be officially launched on the market.
" ProWein 2026 will devote even more space to producers of innovative wines, including alcohol-free or low-alcohol wines. This choice reflects current consumer trends, which are not only aimed at younger generations, " Fiorini continues. " It's a trend that likely represents something more: precisely for this reason, some of our appellation's wineries have been investing in this direction for several years now. Thanks to this approach, today we are the first Italian DOC to offer wines with an alcohol content of around 9% ABV on the market, alongside the traditional styles that have always characterized our region. This choice confirms our vision: to offer products capable of meeting new needs without sacrificing the integrity of flavor, expressive depth, and respect for territorial identity ."
Participation in ProWein is therefore aimed not only at industry professionals but also at consumers, with the goal of promoting the Garda region—already renowned for its high-quality production—as a reference and potential alternative for those wishing to explore this type of wine without losing their connection to its land of origin.
The Garda DOC Consortium thus continues its journey of promoting its member companies, strengthened by innovative projects. This commitment comes as 2026 begins with solid and structured growth, particularly significant in a highly dynamic overall environment. This commitment confirms the Garda DOC's ability to respond effectively to market dynamics, as demonstrated by the closing figures for 2025, with total bottlings reaching 175,352 hectoliters, equivalent to over 23.3 million 0.75-liter bottles, representing a 20% year-over-year growth.
