WARDAGARDA2023: DISCOVERING GARDA DOP OIL

The festival dedicated to Garda DOP oil and its hinterland reaches its 7th edition. Markets, tastings, aperitifs and Masterclasses with chefs Mattia Manias and Simone Tricarico are scheduled.

The event dedicated to the discovery of Garda DOP oil and its production area is back, where the olive groves overlook the waters of Lake Garda.

Promoted by the Garda DOP Oil Consortium with the contribution of the Veneto Region and the organization of the Pro Loco of Cavaion Veronese, the 7th edition of WardaGarda intends to enhance the symbolic product of the lake shores together with its chosen territory, in an itinerary punctuated by perfumes, flavors and ancient knowledge, following the green leitmotif of Garda DOP oil.

Corte Torcolo , in Cavaion Veronese, will once again host the event on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September , with numerous appointments in which Garda DOP oil will be the undisputed protagonist.

It will begin on Saturday 9 September, from 10.00 to 20.00 , with the exhibition dedicated to Garda DOP oil and the DOP and IGP products of the Veneto region, an opportunity to discover the true typical products of the region.

The same day will be punctuated by guided tastings , organized by the Consortium, to discover the history and characteristics of Garda oil (appointment by reservation).

There will be an aperitif moment with small food pairings and local wines , in which all the versatility of Garda DOP oil will be demonstrated.

Finally, space for the interpretation of young and renowned chefs with the "Stars Cooking Young Challenge" Masterclasses (appointment by reservation), an event conceived and conducted by Fabrizio Nonis "El Bekèr" during which two prominent under-35 chefs in the catering and fine-dining scene will present some of their Garda DOP oil-themed creations made according to the principles of avant-garde, innovation, ethics and sustainability. In addition to the possibility of discovering new trends in the restaurant world and the avant-garde cooking ideas of some of the best young chefs of the moment, the public present will be able to taste the dishes created during the show cooking sessions .

Protagonists of the appointment will be Mattia Manias and Simone Tricarico.

Mattia Manias: chef of the "Al Cjasal" restaurant in San Michele al Tagliamento who, at just 33 years old, already boasts several multi-starred experiences ( Bartolini , Uliassi , Alajmo ).

Simone Tricarico: for 10 years alongside great stars of the kitchen ( Alain Ducasse, Michel Roux, Pascal Barbot, Seiji Yamamoto ), now he is sous chef of Giancarlo Perbellini , first at "Casa Perbellini" and currently at "Trussardi alla Scala by Giancarlo Perbellini".

Sunday 10 September will instead be dedicated to the main players in the Garda area : organizations, institutions, authorities and associations will be invited by the Garda DOP oil consortium to a convivial lunch (by invitation only), with a tasting of Garda DOP oil.

A special appointment, designed to lay the concrete foundations of a synergy useful for enhancing the symbolic product of the lake shores and its chosen territory.

A strong and indissoluble link between Garda DOP oil and the entire area of Lake Garda, which we wanted to highlight right from the choice of the name of the exhibition: Warda is, in fact, the Lombard term from which the toponym Garda derives, an evolution of the Germanic word meaning "guard" and owes its origin to the defensive fortifications located on the hills surrounding the lake.
