ROSSOBARBERA, FOURTH EDITION 3 - 6 NOVEMBER 2023 CASTLE OF COSTIGLIOLE D⤙ASTI

The event, centered on the vine that has always been a symbol of Piedmont winemaking, could only be born and developed in the most vineyard-growing municipality in our region at denomination level and with more than 220 companies dedicated to winemaking. Now in its fourth edition, it represents the largest tasting table dedicated to the Barbera grape and will take place this year from 3 to 6 November 2023 . Now consolidated in the regional and national wine scene, the Costigliolese event is divided into multiple activities, real events within the event and offers, in this edition, around 200 companies with more than 300 wines for tasting. The tasting tables with tasting itineraries managed by the sommeliers of AIS Piemonte, Asti's delegation, remain the fulcrum of the event. Further enriched in the presentation, the now traditional Barbera Territories benefit from video, graphic and digital supports to enhance visibility and deepen knowledge on the world of the wine symbol of our territory. Among the tasting meetings, three moments of considerable importance stand out. The first: Lady B , tasting dedicated to the women of Barbera and homage to Marisa Leo, "woman of wine", a professional in the wine sector who worked for the Colomba Bianca Mazara del Vallo winery, victim of femicide. The event includes a fundraiser in favor of the Palma Vitae association of Partanna which takes care of women in difficulty. And then two other guided tastings proposed under the umbrella of Barbera Academy and precisely: Barbera, Versatility and Freshness with labels ranging from the classic method to passito and Barbera, Quattro Territori, un Uva, Quattro Volti : Costigliole d'Asti, Monleale, Castellinaldo and Nice. Among the novelties of the 2023 edition we report Dolce & Barbera , with our wine that meets pastry making and the participation of the pastry chefs of the International Federation of Pastry, Ice Cream and Chocolate who organize demos and tastings on site. On Sunday 5th the Perfume Tower opens, a series of interactive experiences to get closer to or perfect the perception of the aroma of wine. In collaboration and thanks to the experience of researchers at CREA in Asti - Viticulture and Oenology Research Center in the field of aroma analysis. Finally, this year some Barbera-producing wineries from abroad are participating and there is the Cooking Tour which includes online connections with restaurants in Japan, Brazil and Taiwan where former students of the ICIF (ItalianCulinary Institute for Foreigners) work ) of Costigliole d'Asti who will create a Piedmontese menu combined with Barbera. Regarding the selection of foreign Barbera, RossoBarbera aims to pay homage to the grapes that accompanied our emigrants to the four corners of the globe and which meant planting a bit of Piedmontese land, far from home. A safe, even emotional, reference for those who, forced by the difficulties of life, had to abandon their home and loved ones. The 2023 edition is dedicated precisely to them and to the wonderful wines originating from the Barbera vine that embellish cellars of the two hemispheres. Probably the most adaptable of the Piedmontese vines, the only one found in different pedoclimatic conditions, at different latitudes with the production of always interesting wines, different in essence, clearly linked to the cultivation area, with the common territory of the intrinsic characteristics of the grape: high acidity, good polyphenolic component and discreet tannic content. For the second year, Pianeta Grappa , during the opening hours of RossoBarbera , brings distilleries from all over Italy to the Castle with surprising combinations and guided tastings (Saturday at 6.30pm with the women of Grappa ANAG - Monday 4.30pm Grappa told to the operators in the sector). To complement all the wine-themed events, you can discover Costigliole d'Asti through some of its artistic riches in the "Rocca della Rocca" , the Granaries of the Castle, the Museum of Sacred Art, the Art Space of Casa Prunotto which for the The occasion extends Enrico Paulucci's exhibition “paintings and graphics”, the Church of the Confraternita della Misericordia with the exhibition “From red to colours” by ArteMisiae and Casa Efisio, open exclusively on the occasion of the event. In the evening, the lights of the castle will continue to color the Red Nights with two events dedicated to dance: Saturday 4th, from 9pm, Live music with the Kitchen Swing, and Sunday 5th, Tango performance by Marcela Guevara y Stefano with Almagro Company . On the two evenings it will be possible to taste the cocktails of "Il Confessionale" and continue the wine tasting. On Sunday afternoon, at 3.00 pm, thanks to the collaboration with the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourism Board, the Costigliole Walking tour starts, a fully accessible guided tour to discover the beauties of the city: the Rocca, the parish church and its frescoes and the churches of the Confraternity of San Gerolamo and della Misericordia. The Costigliole event begins on Friday 3 November with a prestigious preview in the Salone Nobile of the Castle of Costigliole d'Asti, at 5.00 pm with the conference "History, viticulture and identity of the territory at the Asinari castle" and the presentation of the digitization and anastatic copying project of the book “The Marquis Filippo Asinari of San Marzano (1767-1828), winemaker in Costigliole d'Asti” . Followed by the inauguration with the Mayor, Enrico Alessandro Cavallero, who launches the fourth edition of RossoBarbera and Pianeta Grappa with ribbon cutting and toast in the presence of the Minister of Public Administration, Paolo Zangrillo, of the Governor of the Piedmont Region, Alberto Cirio, and the President of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, Francesco Profumo.
