One of the most significant events dedicated to sustainable viticulture is back. Participation is now open for the 34th National Tasting of Organic and Biodynamic Wines , promoted by Legambiente as part of Festambiente, in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Agro-Environmental Sciences of the University of Pisa and La Nuova Ecologia.
Over the years, this event has established itself as a leading observatory on the quality of Italian organic and biodynamic wine production, showcasing not only winemaking excellence but also the environmental and social innovation that is taking place within the agricultural world.
Interested companies can submit their samples by April 29, 2026 , while the awards ceremony will be held on June 6, 2026, in Rispescia , in the heart of the Maremma Park, during the accompanying dinner event. Selected producers will receive a plaque in the various categories provided.
Alongside the selection of the best white, rosé, young and mature red wines, sparkling wines, and dessert wines, the event also dedicates significant space to special awards . These will recognize the most significant experiences related to unique and rare grape varieties, female viticulture, the best wine produced by cooperatives and consortia, environmental sustainability and social responsibility, heroic agriculture, the best value for money, the best pairing with vegetarian dishes, young agricultural entrepreneurs, and the best wine produced on the islands .
A series of awards that showcase the evolution of a sector where product quality is increasingly intertwined with landscape protection, biodiversity, and agricultural practices that significantly reduce environmental impact.
"For over thirty years, Festambiente's organic and biodynamic wine show," explains Angelo Gentili, Legambiente's agriculture director , "has represented a meeting point between research, production, and environmental commitment. Wine is an extraordinary tale of land, tradition, and innovation. Today, more than ever, viticulture is faced with significant challenges: from the climate crisis to soil protection, safeguarding biodiversity, and improving quality. Organic and biodynamic experiences demonstrate that it is possible to produce quality while reducing environmental impact and building more resilient and competitive agricultural supply chains."
Gentili also emphasizes how the wine sector can become one of the most interesting laboratories for agriculture's ecological transition: "More and more companies are investing in sustainable agronomic practices, converting to organic farming, reviving local grape varieties, and adopting management models that respect the landscape and communities. Along this path, innovation, from agronomic techniques to integrated renewable energy on farms, can also contribute to strengthening the ability to adapt to climate change. This event aims to share these experiences and highlight those who are building an agriculture capable of combining quality, sustainability, and local value."
Participation in the event is free, but producers are responsible for shipping the samples. It's an opportunity for organic and biodynamic wineries to meet, share experiences, and contribute to a wine narrative increasingly tied to environmental sustainability and local care.
