The 5 senses, the 5 emotions of Emotional Intelligence and the 5 icons of Italian cuisine will be the underlying theme of a unique day, dedicated to the taste of sustainable well-being through a dialogue between the Mediterranean diet and African cuisine with three exceptional testimonials : the starred Chef Heinz Beck, Chef Fatmata Binta and the Master Ice Cream Maker Luca Rizzardini. Journey in Italy is much more than an event, it is a real thought that puts man, his individuality, his dignity and his sensitivity at the centre, to counteract an increasingly fast and superficial world.
On May 27th from 6.30 pm until 11.00 pm , the Rotonda della Besana , a notable example of late Baroque architecture in Via Enrico Besana 12 in Milan, will host a very special meeting. Journey in Italy, sensitive to the promotion of the Bel Paese through its beauties, has chosen this timeless place of the soul as it plays a fundamental role in the city not only for its artistic charm, but also for its cultural value. Originally part of a convent, this historic monument hosted a military hospital, then a hospice and is today an exhibition and meeting centre. At the center of Journey in Italy will be taste, environmental sustainability, beauty, design, the pleasure of sharing. Upon their arrival, guests will be welcomed with Acqua di Bene - created for Journey in Italy - to prepare them for the experience. An unusual aperitif will follow. Thanks to 5 thematic islands, dedicated to the 5 icons Wine, Coffee, Bread, Pasta and Ice Cream , each participant will be able to better discover their senses and the 5 emotions of Emotional Intelligence: happiness, dreams, sharing, balance, empathy . It will do so thanks to the suggestions offered by exceptional speakers and the proposals of Chef Heinz Beck, 3* Michelin of the La Pergola restaurant in Rome, considered one of the best chefs in the world, with a culinary approach that respects the raw materials and the health of his guests. In recent years, Beck has developed a philosophy in particular that places healthy and sustainable nutrition at the centre.
The co-protagonist will be Master Ice Cream Maker Luca Rizzardini, descendant of a family of ice cream makers who have been working since 1891 and who deals with the valorization of herbs and plants, from woodruff to rhododendron and rhubarb. Finally, guest of honor will be Chef Fatmata Binta , African representative of the Fulani ethnic group and FAO and UNWTO Ambassador, who had the merit of bringing her culture closer to a tradition that is only apparently so different, also making known the "cereal of the future" , the Fonio. The common denominator will be the dialogue between the Mediterranean Diet and African Cuisine, where two cultures with two different food pyramids will meet and talk about each other. At the same time, " immersive experiences " will take place, seven-minute meetings that will offer suggestions on each of the protagonist products. There will be no shortage of the creative version of the classic "Cacio e Pepe" recipe, a legacy of the successful Cacio e Pepe Day event, held from 2021 to today.
<< The culture of Italian cuisine brings together values such as beauty, taste, design, hospitality, celebration, the sacred. In Journey in Italy we enhance each of these aspects by adding an essential element: self-knowledge, thanks to emotions and one's senses>> states Antonella Bondi, Architect, Olfactory Designer and Founder of Journey in Italy with engineer Ruggero Vittorio Dassi. < also activated a partnership with Longarone Fiere Dolomiti, thanks to President Michele Dal Farra and Alessandro Piccinini >>.
Journey in Italy is a space for dialogue and exchange on food understood as "sustainable wellbeing", a container of culture, art and savoir-faire, but above all as a universal resource - available to all - for sustainable well-being . A story of the Italian Dream, An Italian Dream Story , under the motto "People See, People Do" , that is, if people see and understand, their way of acting also changes.
Journey in Italy will be followed by The Grand Tour , inspired by the Grand Tour of European travellers, especially Anglo-Saxons, who crossed Europe between the 18th and 19th centuries to complete their cultural education. The values of the event will be brought to the world, from the United States to England up to China, to discover the many aspects of Italy, from sustainable tourism to hidden and surprising biocultural riches , up to the different forms of intellectual heritage, symbol of our country: design, architecture, urban planning, food and wine, art, history, avant-garde.
