Twenty-four wines won Grand Gold, 218 Gold, and 340 Silver medals, led by Tuscany and Sicily. Trentino-Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia led the Sauvignon Selection by CMB.
The awards ceremony for the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and Sauvignon Selection by CMB, the international wine event that annually celebrates the excellence of Italian wine in Rome, concluded successfully in one of the capital's most beautiful buildings. A total of 582 labels received medals: 340 earned Silver and 218 Gold, of which 91 and 44 respectively came from Tuscany alone. Twenty-four wines earned the highest recognition, the Gran Oro medal (only 1% of the 15,000 competing wines receive this award), eight of which were from Sicily. Thirty-three Sauvignon Selection wines also received awards (two Gran Oro, 22 Silver, and nine Gold), with Trentino-Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia leading the way.
The awards ceremony at Palazzo Valentini, headquarters of the Metropolitan City of Rome, featured wineries representing the entire Italian winemaking landscape, from north to south. This impressive list of winners attracted hundreds of guests, underscoring the importance of the CMB as an event for both the press and industry, as well as the general public. Among the day's distinguished attendees were CMB President Baudouin Havaux , Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Rome Pierluigi Sanna, Councilor of the Foreign Press Association Alfredo Tesio , and Prefect of Rome Lamberto Giannini .
With over half a thousand award-winning wines, Italy confirms its centrality in the global wine scene, boasting a mosaic of territories, grape varieties, and production identities that constitute a unique heritage of biodiversity. Among the special awards, "Italian Revelation" was awarded to Ca' Rugate's Cima Caponiera Riserva 2018, "Italian Spumante Revelation" to Centinari Franciacorta Brut , and "Italian Rosé Revelation" to Cantine San Nicola's Don Venanzio Rosato 2024. Furthermore, Nicolussi-Leck's Sauvignon Blanc Riserva 2021 was named "Italian Sauvignon Revelation," while Cantine Pellegrino's Single Barrel No. 018 was named "International Barrique-Aged Wine Revelation." Alongside the best of Italian winemaking, wines from some of the most fascinating wine regions were the protagonists of the masterclasses “ Best Rosés of Provence ” and “Sauvignon of South Africa ”, up to an interesting focus on the wine heritage of the Capital with the masterclass “ The best wines of the Province of Rome ”.
"The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is much more than a simple competition ," says Baudouin Havaux, President of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, " but a truly global platform for comprehensive support of the wine sector. Each medal represents not only recognition of excellence but also a bridge between wine regions and international markets, becoming a concrete tool for enhancing the identity and history that constitute the unique value of each label."
“ I would like to extend my compliments and best wishes to the Concours for the professionalism and dedication with which they carry out their valuable work, capable of uniting countries and cultures under the banner of wine,” states Pierluigi Sanna, Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Rome . “A union that, today more than ever, in an international context marked by strong tensions, takes on profound value. The CMB now has strong and recognizable ties to Palazzo Valentini: we have been pursuing this collaboration with enthusiasm for years and will continue to do so next year on the occasion of Rome's nomination as European Space Capital 2026. This recognition strengthens our city's role as a point of reference for food and wine culture, but also for innovation, research, and the space economy.”
After more than 30 years of operation, the prestigious Belgian wine competition maintains its quality seal, continuing to stand out internationally for its meticulous and rigorous approach. All CMB tastings are conducted exclusively blind and entrusted to leading wine experts from around the world, a process that guarantees independent judgment, strengthening the competition's credibility and impartiality. Another strength is the limit imposed on the number of medals: no more than 33% of the competing wines can be awarded, a strict restriction that reinforces the value of the medal-winning wines and makes this recognition a true certificate of excellence.
Celebrating the finest winemaking expressions while simultaneously offering a service to the entire supply chain, both in terms of quality assurance for consumers and effective communication tools for producers: this is the goal of the Concours, which also continues to work tirelessly to support the distribution industry. This commitment is realized through the Bistrot Pedol project in Milan, Rapallo, and soon in Bolzano, and through international collaborations such as the Wine&Spirits Experience by CMB, already active in Mexico, Korea, and Benin, and the Cavavin wine shop chain.
