The Cecchetto Giorgio Farm once again joined forces with the Italian Association of People with Down Syndrome (AIPD) – Marca Trevigiana Section for the traditional inclusive harvest of Raboso Piave . On the afternoon of Saturday, October 4th, the 21st edition of this initiative, founded in 2005, took place at the Vazzola (Treviso) headquarters. Each year, it involves young people, families, and volunteers in harvesting the first bunches of this native Treviso red grape variety.
"The harvest with AIPD, year after year, has become a true tradition for our company and the community in which we operate," says Marco Cecchetto, winemaker and owner of the company . "It's not just a moment of work in the vineyard, but an opportunity to come together, share values, and strengthen bonds. It demonstrates that a simple gesture like picking grapes can become a symbol of inclusion and collective participation."
With the help of friends and family, the boys pressed the grapes using an ancient press: they will then return in the spring to bottle the Raboso del Piave and package it with labels hand-drawn and signed by each of them .
The event with the AIPD youth has been held for over twenty years : through the inclusive harvest, Cecchetto explains how Raboso del Piave can also be charitable, supporting the community and demonstrating that it is possible to do business in a shared and inclusive manner . This focus on 360-degree sustainability translated into the company's adoption of the legal form of a Benefit Corporation in 2023, including this commitment in its articles of association and combining the concept of productivity with that of respectful and responsible viticulture .
