The excellence of Calabrian wine returns to Rome to further showcase the region's winemaking heritage and define the next steps in its promotion program, which will continue into 2026. With the slogan "Extraordinary Calabria" as its guiding principle, the Region aims to strengthen the presence and perception of Calabrian wines in key Italian and European markets. It does so starting in the capital, one of the most dynamic cities, where interest in Calabrian wines continues to grow, attracting an increasingly attentive and engaged audience. Indeed, 2026 will kick off with an event dedicated to the world of wine trade and Rome's wine enthusiasts, featuring a tasting showcasing a selection of some of the region's most important labels.
After a year rich in successes and accolades, which saw Calabria dominate the industry's key stages, from Vinitaly to the Merano WineFestival, from Rome with Vinòforum to Naples with VitignoItalia, and even beyond the border with ProWein and Wine Paris, 2026 promises to be equally exciting for the Calabrian wine industry. The Calabria Region is not only renewing its presence at established events, but also aims to strengthen a unified and recognizable image for its production.
" Our goal is to provide continuity to a solid narrative consistent with our winemaking traditions, an authentic expression of the territory and our regional identity ," emphasized Gianluca Gallo, Councilor for Agriculture for the Calabria Region. " We want our region to be increasingly appreciated for the quality of its wines, the strength of its roots, and the modernity of our vision, which are the driving force for the future. Rome represents a strategic starting point, but our commitment also extends beyond Italy's borders and finds a stimulating outlet in international markets."
It's no coincidence that 2026 will see the Region confirm its participation in ProWein, a key event for years, underscoring its growing connection with the German market, thanks in part to high-end restaurants that recognize the quality and uniqueness of Calabrian wines. The presence in Germany represents just one step in a series of events and initiatives designed to accompany the Calabria Region throughout 2026. The region's presence at Wine Paris will be expanded, demonstrating how promoting the wines of this splendid region must necessarily involve the most important markets.
A packed calendar of events will characterize the Calabrian calendar during Vinitaly, including tastings, focus sessions, and face-to-face meetings with Italian and international journalists. The partnership with the Verona event is further strengthened, with the third edition of Vinitaly and the City taking place in Sibari at the end of July.
"While it's important to showcase our wines throughout Italy and the world, " Councilor Gallo reiterated, " it's crucial to welcome the leading wine players to our beautiful region. Because only by exploring our territories and being overwhelmed by the beauty of the places where our wines are born can we truly understand the true meaning of Calabrian viticulture."
And in this sense, the various activities taking place in the region, beyond those already described, should be considered. The municipality of Cirò will host the Merano WineFestival, which, from June 6 to 8, 2026, will return to Calabria, offering a first-hand experience of the places, vineyards, and people who preserve the uniqueness of this extraordinary winemaking heritage. Cirò will also host the Rosé Session of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles at the end of March, attracting dozens of industry professionals from around the world, confirming a now historic partnership with the CMdB.
This focus on incoming tourism is further confirmed by the fact that press tours are currently being planned, allowing Italian and international trade press to enjoy unique experiences in what is increasingly being perceived as "Extraordinary Calabria."
