Italian Red Wine Pomino rosso

Organoleptic characteristics: The red Pomino has bright ruby red color​​ with garnet hues, more or less intense. It has a vinous, intense and characteristic aroma, and in the mouth it is dry, harmonious and powerful, slightly tannic in youth. Historical-cultural infos and curiosities: The red Pomino is produced in one of the smallest DOC areas of Tuscany. The excellent quality of this wine was recognized as early as the eighteenth century, so much so that regulations for its production were established. Some members of the Albizi family, who had a key role in the production of Pomino, were exiled to France. When they returned to Tuscany, they integrated the local wine-making system with some French practices and varieties. Serving suggestions: This wine is excellent with appetizers, with cold meats and mature cheese. It also goes well with grilled or roasted red meats, sausages, chicken livers. Production area: Part of the territory of the town of Rufina (Firenze). Grape varieties allowed for its production: Sangiovese (minimum 50%), Pinot Noir and Merlot (alone or in combination, up to a maximum of 50%). To produce this wine, grapes of the red berry grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Tuscany region, up to a maximum of 25%, are allowed.
