Italian Red Wine Ormeasco

Organoleptic Characteristics: The Ormeasco di Pornassio wine has lively ruby ​​red color, a persistent, winey, characteristic aroma and, in the mouth, it is dry, pleasant, medium-bodied, with a bitter note. Historical-cultural information and curiosities: The presence of the Ormeasco grapes probably goes back to the Roman period, but someone lead it back to the period around the year one thousand. It is the latest DOC of the Liguria region, the expression of love for the land and for the vineyards transmitted over the centuries by local people. Each year, members of the "Confraternita dell'Ormeasco" gather together with traditional clothes in medieval style, wearing red as red is the wine they produce, in order to renew their ties with the traditions of the place. Serving suggestions: Main courses with meat sauces, red meats and mature cheese. Production area: Province of Imperia. Grape varieties allowed for its production: Ormeasco or Dolcetto (minimum 95%). The use of other varieties of black berry grapes, for a maximum of 5%, suitable for cultivation in the Liguria region, is allowed.
