Asti

Description of the wine:
Asti is the aromatic sparkling wine par excellence. It has two varieties: Asti Spumante (sparkling wine characterized by a fine and persistent perlage and a gradation between 7 ° and 9.5 °) and Moscato d'Asti (still and sometimes lively wine, characterized by an alcohol content between 4.5 ° and 6.5 °, which presents a greater sweetness, due to an only partial fermentation of the sugar in the grapes).
Organoleptic characteristics:
It has a pale straw yellow color, recreates the typical aromas of the Moscato grapes, and in the mouth it has a low alcohol content and a captivating sweetness.
Historical-cultural information and curiosities:
At the end of 1800 the techniques of making Champagne sparkling are developed, which is refined and perfected over the years while some aspects of its tradition are mantained. First, these techniques are applied on red wines, then on white ones, among which the Asti Spumante. In the fifties of the twentieth century, Martinotti before and Mareno after, refine further the systems of sparkling-making and filtering that lead to the Asti wine that we know today.

Production area:
The production area covers the territory of 52 municipalities in the provinces of Asti, Cuneo and Alessandria.
Production techniques:
It is produced with a technique invented in Piedmont (Martinotti method) which allows the wine to preserve the characteristic varietal aroma of the grapes of origin, the Moscato Bianco (or Moscato di Canelli).

Canelli, Santa Vittoria d'Alba and Strevi.
