Translated from French, meaning "moderately sweet" or "medium sweet". It is one of the six ways to define a sparkling wine according to the Community law.
Demi–sec sparkling wine has a residual sugar content between 33 and 50 grams/liter.
Other ways of defining the sparkling wine in ascending order are: extra brut (completely dry), brut, extra dry, sec and doux (sweet).
