Masi Agricola SpA (hereinafter “Masi”), a company listed on Euronext Growth Milan and among the Italian leaders in the production of premium wines, announces the signing of a preliminary contract to acquire 100% of Società Agricola Casa Re, owned by Casati family and owner of the winery of the same name in Montecalvo Versiggia, in the Oltrepò Pavese, just outside Santa Maria della Versa.
The “Casa Re” estate is made up of 13 hectares of single-body vineyards, mainly planted with Pinot Noir and located in a highly attractive pedoclimatic and landscape context, as well as various buildings, both for production and hospitality purposes, and a prized villa in Liberty.
The definitive contract will be signed in January 2024, upon completion of some formalities necessary to rationalize the morphology of the object of the deal . In the meantime, Masi will take direct management of Casa Re's viticultural activities at the end of the current agricultural year.
Federico Girotto, CEO of Masi , declared: “Landing in the Oltrepò Pavese represents a “coherent trespass” from the territory of the Veneto, which is and remains our elective area: we have in fact identified the strategic complementarity of the Oltrepò Pavese – emblematic of the Classic Italian Method - with other expressions of an increasingly significant sparkling wine side in the Masi Group's range of labels, such as Canevel in Valdobbiadene and Conte Federico Bossi Fedrigotti in Trentino, to generate synergies and create potential growth areas".
Eugenio Casati, owner of Casa Re , commented: “The entrepreneurial and human capabilities of the Masi Group, which make it an internationally renowned excellence, will be able to best enhance our estate with a view to virtuous and important growth, of which the entire Oltrepò Pavese area will benefit" .
The operation was carried out through the consultancy services of Colline and Oltre SpA, a company owned by Intesa Sanpaolo and Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lombardia with the aim of carrying out joint interventions for the relaunch and valorisation of the Oltrepò Pavese area. “The Oltrepò Pavese represents a great opportunity to tell the story of Made in Italy through the beauty of the territory and above all the quality of its vineyards, with particular attention to Pinot Noir. The operation born between Masi and Casa Re represents a further important piece of the support program for the territory that the Colline e Oltre company is promoting in synergy with the Agribusiness Directorate, Intesa Sanpaolo's center of excellence dedicated to Italian agri-food" , noted Matteo Casagrande Paladini, General Director of Colline e Oltre .
Masi made use of the professional assistance of Studio Alberti Ubini Castagnetti Maggi of Verona, while the Casati family was assisted by Dr. Stefania Casati.
