Collateral event of the exhibition I, Renato Guttuso_Società Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso, Modica

New and double appointment with visual art and excellent food and wine for a new chapter that talks about Sicilian culture in all its aspects. Sunday 1 June at 8:30 pm, at the Società Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso in Modica, Sikarte proposes a collateral event - Gusto in mostra - linked to the exhibition Io, Renato Guttuso curated by Giuliana Fiori and Anna Papale. It will be possible, in fact, to visit - by reservation (mandatory) - the exhibition itinerary of the exhibition and then participate in a taste experience signed by important chefs of the territory who , starting from the suggestion of one or more works, will create an ad hoc dish which will also be associated with a wine.

Five chefs - Francesca Barone, Accursio Craparo, Claudio Ruta, Lorenzo Ruta, Luca Stracquadanio - and five different wine pairings, all designed to enrich the visit to the exhibition Io, Renato Guttuso. Each gastronomic creation will be accompanied by a wine, carefully chosen by the Master Taster and Onav - Modica delegate Giorgio Solarino.

During the evening it will be possible to learn about and taste the dishes created specifically for the exhibition that, in fact, inspired them. The common thread between the visual art project and the collateral event linked to gastronomic art are the stories of Sicily and its culture that pass through the works of Renato Guttuso, the territory, the knowledge of the past and present and the projection into the future.

From Francesca Barone's dish "Onion, bread and broad beans" (onion braised in red wine with crispy barley bread and fried broad beans) to Accursio Craparo 's "Expression of popular food" (bread meatballs with tomato sauce); and again from Claudio Ruta's dish "Echoes of Sicily in the Soul of an Artist" (served by the glass: cold fish soup, saffron sauce, white caponata, raw sardines and toasted almonds) to Lorenzo Ruta's "Parmigiana di melanzane" (glazed aubergine with onion base, tomato extract, Ragusano spread and basil cream) and, finally, Luca Stracquadanio's "Spicy Avocado Tuna Tartare" (spiced avocado with tuna tartare and wakame seaweed salad with Ispica sesame).

Each Chef will also create a dessert inspired by the exhibition that will be revealed during the evening of June 1st, while Giorgio Solarino will propose a selection of Sicilian wines that will accompany each individual dish.

The participants, as part of the tasting, will be accompanied with a detailed guided tour of the exhibition Io, Renato Guttuso , inside the Società Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso to discover the strong and multifaceted soul of Renato Guttuso through a selection of works that cover a time span that goes from the mid-30s to the mid-80s. Each work exhibited will show a public or private side of his life.

I, Renato Guttuso is an exhibition/story of the artist that retraces his various creative and life phases with the relative states of mind. From his nostalgia for Sicily to his move to Rome; from his affections/loves to eros and the inspiring muses. And again, from his political commitment to the symbols of social values revealed in his still lifes and in the historically slanted canvases in which he recounts the battles for social equality. Finally, his prolific production of stage sets, and the conspicuous collection of sketches of stage costumes, dating back to the 1950s.
